Ahh this is my third post and they keep getting deleted... I will make this short now.
I'm a 17 year old guy and trying to grow out my hair like Matthew Mcgonahue or whatever his last name is:

(In that 2nd photo, I'm on the left in the black and white striped collared shirt. You can see things getting untidy in the back... if I weren't going to grow my hair out, I would have cut it then.)
I think I'm in what is called the "bad-hair phase" now. The back of my hair is growing uncontrollably and my front is just chillin... when the back curls up a lot I brush it clockwise into my neck to make it stay down, but then it looks like a mullet! (I've been informed of this by other people.) I will take pics of this asap. Should I get a maintenance cut, or let it curl in the back to keep the mullet look away?? I just want to have long hair! Is curling up in the back part of the long hair look? I'm too used to short hair to be able to accept it.
