Does anybody have any tips on growing hair out besides using vitamins and stuff like that... I would really appreciate some input if someone could at least try to help me.

Patience. Growing your hair out is not an easy task. It requires that you be able to live past the moment- there will be many when you want to chop it all off.
Committment- you want it? really? then despite what mom, sisters, friends at school?work?church? say about how cute you are with "whatver" style and that you should cut it , you say thanks, but I really want long hair and am committed to growing out beautiful healty hair.

Growing hair requires a good healthy wholesome diet & proper supplementation - don`t just assume that you need all these extra vitamins - do the work. Measure your hair today, and write it down. Measure again in a month, so you have a realistic sort of idea about how fast your hair grows. Set goals - remember to keep hair looking good you will need the ends trimmed a bit to keep the shaggys away, you need to research trimming split ends yourself, so you can perform daily checks for splits and stop them yourself.

There is an abundance of information, and plenty of folks willing to answer questions. Try being more specific.

I agree 100% - patience is the key. Don`t get caught up in the latest trend in magazines, movies, or on TV. Set a goal and stick to it.

Getting through the awkward stage seems to be the most difficult time. Frustration sets in and the scissors come out. When that urge strikes, seek support from a friend or via the Internet. There are a number of long hair web sites (such as this discussion board) where you can talk about your feelings with others that have experienced them too.

Take care of your hair. Have trims to remove any dry or split ends and condition regularly to keep it shiny and healthy. I found that compliments as it grows reinforces the decision and helps overcome the frustrations. I know of one person that kept a diary while growing out her now waist length hair and she made sure include any compliments she got. When the urge to cut reared it`s ugly head she reread them and didn`t give in to it.

As your hair grows, try new styles. Longer hair will give you lots of styling options so try different braids and updos.

Be patient, treat your hair kindly, enjoy the compliments you get, try different styles, and you will realize your goal.

Hang in there!! ;)
