Have you seen this really shimmery mahogany colour around? I know I`ve seen it a lot on celebrities, and on TV. For instance, the 3rd runner up girl on the Bachelor TV show had a colour like what I`m thinking of.
Basically, it`s like a mahogany/purplish auburn colour, but I have a feeling it`s dyed; it seems to have different colours in different lights - black/purplish/orangish/brownish depending on lighting.
Anyone know how to get this effect and whether it can come from a bottle or if it`s something that has to come from a salon (and, for that matter, how would I ask for this colour?)

I didn`t see the show you are talking about but there are two products I am aware of that will produce a mahogany color.
The first is L`Oreal`s Feria. They have two colors in that shade. You can see their color chart at: http://www.adiscountbeauty.com/page393.html - http://www.adiscountbeauty.com/page393.html
The second is henna. As you may know, henna is a vegetable dye and many women swear by it because it is generally less damaging to hair than traditional hair coloring chemicals. I have been getting very good results with Naturtint products. It is a permanent hair color with natural ingredients (no ammonia). They have three mahogany shades. See their color chart at: http://www.mineralconnection.com/naturtint.htm - http://www.mineralconnection.com/naturtint.htm
Hope this helps. Good luck in your search and I hope you find just what you are looking for. :)
