I`m about to get a haircut which apparently involves "short layers" even though it`s essentially a chin-length bob. Having seen some bad haircuts on aunts and cousins of mine (you know the generic 30-40 year old woman crappily-layered, crappily-highlighted cuts) having "short layers" is worrying me a bit. Can someone console me and maybe help me understand what these short layers will involve and whether they will be manageable when I try to style my hair at home?
Also, when I tip, does it need to be in cash format directly handed to the stylist, or can I just add something at the end when I pay for the cut?

Hi! I don`t know about the haircut, having never tried anything above the shoulders, but I bet it would be cute. Yes, I think most places let you tip by adding it to your final tab....or at least the salons in my town do. Good luck with your cut--let us know how it turns out! :-)
