HB's Angie has a friend who wants Billy and I to extend his hair and create dreads.  I have been investigating all the possibilities including attaching pre-dreaded hair, using wool dreads or other methods.

Yesterday I was talking to someone and they suggested that if we added the wool dreads we should consider wrapping them in electrical tape to achieve a futuristic look.

I have to admit I had never heard of that before but I did some research and it has been popular at various times, especially in the UK.  I did discovered that if you wrap electrical tape around your own hair, you should dose it first with some sort of powder to prevent ripping your hair out when you remove the tape.

I am wondering if acetone would dissolve electrical tape as easily as the toupee tape we used on Angela.

Also, are people still wrapping their extensions, braids, dreads with tape?  If so, do you know where to buy great tape?

I am also researching yarn, string and wool and have located some US vendors that sell "hair extension" appropriate options but if anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciate since I am in heavy research mode at this point.

It is fascinating what you can do with wool (yes I know it can get smelly and heavy) but I am enjoying the research.

WOW.  This forum reminds me of Quinsters old forum.  I used to love to go there for the Wool/Yarn and wild wrapping examples.  This forum has wook and yarn as well so I will be parking myself over there for awhile.

Hi Ms. Honey,

Thanks for the scoop on Darling Nikkie.  I wish I could find some of the big time wool dread lock makers from the old Quinsters forum.  Some of the gals really had some incredible techniques.

Have a great day.

Thanks Sherrie.  So good to know that.  I used to lurk at Quinnsters all the time.  Does Quinnster ever post at Heavenly Hair?  I just love all the dreads made from wool, ribbon, yarn, string and wrapped in wire, tape, wool...you name it.  So fascinating to me.

Some of the photos from Quinnsters from the wool/thread section looked like living art work to me.  Very impressive.

Not sure how well it would go over in Dallas but it would be cool to try my hand at it.
