Hi there!  I am new to this site and I wanted to see if someone could help me.  I have worn GL for many years and am now about to try a new system with a new person.  I have checked her out and seen her work and all seems fine but at this salon they make you sign something before they will do it on you.  The salon I was going to before did not make me sign anything.  Is this typical??  Or should I be nervous??  Any help would be much appreciated.  Thanks!!

What is the new system and what do they want you to sign, that if your hair ends up being screwed up they're not liable? If so, don't do it. If they're not willing to take responsibility for their work don't trust them!!!!

thats kind of what im thinking...i actually havent seen the form yet but she told me that id have to sign one.  I am trying (i cant remember what the name is) but its like those hairlocs.  Like I said Ive done GL many times and liked them but unfortunately the lady that did them for me is not very convenient for me to go to anymore plus I just wanted to try something new.  Is this waiver thing common??  I mean I just dont know...  I also get from their standpoint that if someone gets them and then doesnt maintain them properly resulting in a problem then the salon should not be held liable.  But I just wanted to see if this is really off base...since ive only ever gone to one person (who did not make me sign anything) I dont know whats normal practice.

She probably won't let you but see if she'll let you have a copy of the form to read over. You need to know what it says. It could be as simple as Pre and post care instructions and a guarantee waiver if you don't follow them. But if it's a no liability waiver, find someone else.

i use a contract, it is not a waiver, it is to make sure client follows at home care and makes all scheduled appointments.
I also have it in there where they sign if i can have permission to use thier phots on my site and in my portfolio.

I agree with Tangles...you can't expect an Extensioner to take responsibility for potential problems if the client does not follow instructions for care and maintenance and follow-up.  I imagine that's what your Extensioner is referring to but if it does not state that on the form, perhaps ask her to clarify it on the form before you sign it.
 
My closest friend has been applying Great Lengths hair extensions for over 15 years (way before they were even discovered by Ms. Public).  Never did she have a client experience serious damage to their hair.  Hope this helps and re-assures you about getting them.

Thank you for your help everyone :)  I actually have had several sets of great lengths and liked them but wanted to try this system that this girl does which is like hairlocs (although i cant remember if it was that exact brand).  I am going in to see her tomorrow for a blow dry so I am going to ask if I can look over the form while i am there and I'll let you know what it says.  Thanks again!
