Please help Karen/Everyone - I have thick, coarse, dry hair and I`ve tried lots of serum`s when blowdrying my hair straight (I use cold air so healithy) but it never is smooth, silky, or shiny at all :-( I look after it really well too but I always get the sticky up static style bits and they look horrendous. My hair is naturally curly (even when I let it go curly this occurs even more) and colour treated (tho was like this before colour treatment

Hi. I see your problem....hmm I have straight hair but even for me it can be dry and not as silky as I want. When I wash it I use conditioner two times, the second time I let it be for a little while. that works quite good, but I have bad days aswell sometimes. Is it much breakage in your hair? if there is, that could be the case...that was it mostly for me some time ago...I cut of that much that was needed and its better now than it was before. Hope this helped you alittle bit.

I feel your pain. Perhaps try a deep conditioning session once a week by wearing a heating cap for 15 minutes with the conditioner on your hair. (I also sleep with conditioner in my hair once a week--does the trick for me.) I like Aura Cherry Almond Bark revitalizing conditioner--it`s a lower-priced version of Aveda and is nothing short of miraculous for me. (you just really REALLY have to like the smell of licorice.)

Conditioners with silicone derivatives in them (dimethicone, cyclomethicone, anything with a "cone" ending) help to really smooth the hair cuticle and combat the frizzies. But you would probably need to deep clean once a week as they can cause buildup.

Also, cold air from your dryer does not "set" the style as well as hotter air does, unfortunately. I`ve read this everywhere, including in Paula Begoun`s book, and I`ve noticed when I use a cool setting, my hair is significantly frizzier. Unfortunately, the heat is anything but beneficial. Sigh.

I use an ultra-gentle shampoo by Loreal called Nature`s Therapy. The whole product line is fabulous. And I don`t wash my hair every day, because that means more wear and tear on the hair. I hope SOME of this helps! Good luck :-)
