Good day everyone ! I would like your opinions on which types of hair coloring shampoos you all have used, liked or disliked. I am thinking about trying Tressa Watercolors in Mocha Drench. My hair is dark brown and I use semi-demi color to cover grays and usually need to use some red color to keep the grays from turning green or blue with those as bases. I read on the Tressa site that Mocha Drench would tone down the red-brassiness I have and dont much like. I would like to stop coloring mu hair so often and wondered if the color shampoos would be good to use a few weeks before going back to the salon?

So, what types are good, without damaging or drying out the hair more? Do any of them contain metallic dyes? Id like to stay away from those.

Sorry such a long post. Thanks !

The only one I've used is Complements (I think they have a haircolor they call complements now, which is not the same thing....I haven't been to Sally in awhile and I don't even know if they still sell the shampoo I was using).  If it says it will tone down reds, it will probably do so, you may as well give it a shot.  I don't think I'd use it before going to the salon though, it may interfere with your dye.  They tend to stick to hair for a couple of washes, so I would be sure to wash it all out before getting dye done.

The one I used didn't dry hair out, they shouldn't be damaging or really contain much in the way of dyes.  They are more like pigment and look like paint in the bottle (ones that are translucent won't change much at all).  Its more like coating your hair with a color, which will wash right out than a real chemical process.

Thanks Susan ! Ive never heard of Complements. I went to Sally over the weekend and asked them about a color shampoo and they looked at me like I was crazy. I dont know much, but obviously they dont either, lol ! They tried to sell me haircolor. Anyway, yes, I figured it might interfere with the next color I get at the salon so I figured Id just use the shampoo for a week or two when they color has faded alot then wash my hair a couple of weeks and go back and it should be ok? Do you think it will set in the reds anyway (that are actually gray) and maybe the next color wont take or do you think Ill be safe? Thanks !!!
