I see a lot of confusion about guard sizes, numbers, etc.

I saw somebody post the Oster sizes, those are DEFINETLY not the standar guard sizes.
I have some wahl's guards, I have also seen conair guards, and I think only Oster has those different guard sizes.

Chrisdogg you were right on 1/4 = #2..

Sizes according to what I have seen nonOster-brand

#1 - 1/8'' (3mm)
#2 - 1/4'' (6mm)
#3 - 3/8'' (10mm)
#4 - 1/2'' (13mm)

woah thats hella short, I dunno I never had a kit with those.
I know these to be the standards, but some people still think others are.
Im kind of surprised so many people as like deep in the game as they are don't know about guard lengths.  Personally, I had to cut my own hair for a while and I still do generally in between every now n then I need that professional look.  I think its important for us wavers to know these guards, n how they affect our hair.  I dont trust a barber with dark ceasar or light ceasar, barbers got different ideas of whats what.  We gotta know whats what so we dont get scalped.

so i usually get a 1

so 1 wtg would =1mm

and atg would be=0.5.......am i wrong

so if i get a 1...................wtg it leaves more waves right.............so thats why atg cut stays fresher right?.................

it takes a lot of time to cut out hair well.  Being curly as it is, you have to go over it several times to get it even.  I think a good tip is if you tip your barber well.  I had a barber I ALWAYS tip well and he would spent a nice hour on my cuts

really haircutting is an art no joke.

Sure #X whatever u want all around even is easy.  But becoming good at tapering, fading, and edging is important too.

My post was really just a response to that Oster sizes post, and somebody said the wrong size for one of em which chrisdogg corrected.
