Hi everyoneTongue

I have just joined the forum today and i am from the UK!!

I presently wear my hair in extensions (human hair braids) and have been doing for a long time now. I used to have relaxed hair but that was at least 2 years ago.

I feel ready to relax my hair again - but this time im considering a home kit as its difficult to find a suitabe afro hairdressers where i live. I know you have to be extremely careful relaxing your own hair.

Would using a childrens relaxer be more preferable? Can anyone recommend a good relaxer (that i can get in the UK) and tips on having a safe experience relaxing my hair at home? My hair type is coarse not curly except when wet.

Also what is the difference between a texturiser and a relaxer?

All help will be very appreciatedClap

First off.. Are you confident in relaxing your own hair? Cuz if not don't do it.. Secondly if you decided to relax your own hair I would start with a mild relaxer.. Either  a mild no-lye or mild lye relaxer.. That way you can gradually work your way up from there to a regular relaxer.. I relax my own hair.. The type of relaxer I use is African Pride Rosemary and Jasmine for Sensitive scalp. I know.. It's a no-lye relaxer but it works. Andd.. I don't have scalp irritation from it..

children relaxer are all the same as a regular relaxer  it just has a kid face on the box read the insert and check out the ph balance. A texturizer is when you use relaxer and just break the curl pattern down some, not to make it straight. And I use PhytoSpecific which my the way is featured in Essence with Usher and his wife on the front. Good luck
