Hello! I know I'm new and maybe shouldn't start off by asking a bunch of questions, but I'm hoping to change my hair completely. It's only an experiment really, I might hate it and end up getting rid of it in a day... but I'd really like to try. My hair now is rather short, and dark brown. I'm hoping to grow it about shoulder length or longer, and dye it blond. To give you the best idea of what I'm going for, here's a couple of pictures:

I'm just wondering right now, with dark brown, short hair, what steps should I be taking this early to make sure things are easiest and come out best in the end? Are there things I can do to make sure that my hair has the same "character" (lol, probably sounds silly) as shown in the picture? Any more information needed about my hair or anything like that I'll gladly give! Thanks a lot!

I think you should go blonde now and then grow it out. Since it seems logical that coloring it blonde now while short will cost less and be less of a hassle .
I dont know if you were going blonde yourself,or going to a stylist, but some charge more for longer hair because it's more difficult to work with.
Plus,if you didnt like it,it would be easier to go back without the fear of cutting your long locks.

The style seems like it would be pretty easy to grow out to,as the second picture just looks the same length all the way around. And the first picture only has a few shorter layers in the front.

Thanks for the response! But if I color it blonde now, wouldn't it simply turn brown as my hair grew?

That's why you keep getting your roots colored every month,LOL.
Yes,blonde is kinda high maintaince, your roots will show fast no matter if your hair is long or short.

lol okay, i was mostly wondering why it would be smarter to color now rather than later. I don't mind high-maintenance, that's fine with me.  Thanks for your help! :)

You're welcomeWink

Yes,seems to me like having to color less hair would be easier. Then you can just maintain the color by dyeing the roots as they grow out.Good luck!

Also, hair bleached at the roots tends to be healthier than hair bleached on the head. If you were to cut your hair short again after growing it out, it'd all be fairly healthy.

Take pics if you do it!
