I have a somewhat weird question. I have really long hair and I want to cut it, but I've been reluctant to do so because it does take a long time to regrow. So, can I cut my hair and then make extensions out of the hair that was cut so I can have short sometimes and long other times?

Yup, you can do that. Your cut hair would be referred to as 'bulk hair' and is quite hard to pretip (but not impossible). There are places you can also send the hair and they will either pretip it for you (strand by strand) or sew it into a weft :)
