Hi all,

I have a complicated question, I think, and hope someone here can help. Thanks in advance!

My natural hair color is dark ash blonde (= dishwater yuck) and I have been coloring it light auburn for many years. Due to my skin tone and the fact that the light auburn approx. matched my natural hair shade, everyone thought it was natural (even when I could clearly notice roots!)

Anyway, now I'm starting to go quite grey and I notice my silver hairs reflecting light within a few weeks following coloring- eek! That does NOT look natural. I thought if I went blonde it would "hide" the grey better between colorings.

What do you think? Would that be a good solution or should I just color my roots every few weeks? If going blonde is the best solution, what would be the best course of action?

Thanks so much!

P.S. I use Loreal Excellence Creme 6R, Light Auburn.

I think going blonde is a good option. Seems as though it shouldnt be too hard to get to from light auburn. Light auburn is only a few shades away from blonde.
I have frequently heard that greys blend better with blonde hair. Not sure if that is true or not,but Valerie Bertanelli (spelling?) has said that is why she went blonde because she started getting a lot of greys and the roots werent as noticeable with the blonde hair.

Hi, I went blonde from (dyed) black for this very reason. My hair is now about 60% grey and the blonde blends with it much better. I still get somewhat dark roots but now that it's all the way blonde (a trying process) I just use a lightener. Don't need bleach anymore.

I think silver stands out against dark much more than dark stands out against blonde, so I agree that it's a good option. I've heard reds are the hardest to take out though, so you may want to do some research on that first or go to a good salon. Also, you may need to get a bit of a cut to remove the most dyed areas of your hair.

Good luck, being blonde is fun and you will love itSmile!

Thanks so much, ladies, for your comments!

I'm going on vacation next month so I'll probably start the process upon my return. I imagine it'll take several months before I get the color I want.
