Hello
I`m so tired of the reddish hightlights that come naturally with my dark brown hair color, I can`t use a permanent
dye because I don`t want to damage my hair any more than it already is, so I have been using a semi-permanent
dye by clairol (natural instincts in (nutmeg) dark brown) to get rid of the red tones, however they still keep coming
back
can anyone please tell me what I should do to eliminate this reddish tone to my hair?
any help would be appreciated
Thanks

Rita (:

I suggest trying color-enhancing shampoo and conditioner in an ash brown shade. Clairol Complements shampoo is great but alas they don`t make matching conditioner. If you go to Trade Secret or other mall salons you can find a bunch of different choices. I really recommend using both shampoo and conditioner, because the change they create is very subtle. Also...is your semi-perm color one with ash overtones? Good luck!! :-)

Why don`t you like your natural reddish highlights? I have them and think they keep my brown hair from looking dull (the color of it that is).

Rita....try a different shade with an ashen tint to it. That will help to counteract the red highlights, as will color enhancing shampoo/conditioner. And I can understand if you don`t like the red tones in your hair....perhaps they doesn`t flatter your complexion or just aren`t what you want :-)
