Subject: Question on Hair Breakage

I am having sever breakage to my hair due to a color job I got on Thursday (to try to darken my too light blonde highlights).
I have been using Joico K-Pak Recouperator. Today, I tried to do a Hot/warm oil treatment, but my hair was breaking off worse after it, so I did another round of the Recoup (for 20 minutes, with a towel on my head).
My hair was in pretty good shape before, but now it looks like celery hair. Breakage visible up the entire hair shafts. My hair is long, straight, fine, and thin.
The girl at the salon told me I could come by tomorrow and she would put a PH balancer in my hair, and give me some conditioning balm.
Anyone familiar with what a PH Balancer does? Isn`t the Recoup enough? Or will the PHB help more? It is just that I am afraid to let her touch my hair.

:(I`m so sorry to hear that, I`d go to the salon and see what they can do, they`ll do their best to get your hair healthy again(it`s their job). :DBut, my opinion on this may not be the best because I don`t know much about PH Balancers or anything like that as I`ve never had a severe hair breakage problem before.

Hey, thanks for answering and trying to help. And for your sympathy, too. It sucks, because my hair was long and in really good shape, even considering I was bleaching the roots. Now I have all stragly ends, with lots of breakage.
I did go to the salon today, and the girl gave me something called Renegal, which is a PH neutralizing rinse for the hair (the PH balancer she was talking about). She said to use it once a week to restore the PH to my hair to normal condition. I think she could sense I was afraid for her to touch my hair, and also, she probably didn`t really want to. And she gave me some Biolage hydrating conditioner.
Also, I went and got a few more products to try to help...If anyone knows about them, good or bad, please let me know.
I got: Graham Webb Super Silk Reconstructive Shampoo; and this Redken Glass product to smooth out the frizzies and flyaways. I hope they will help, its just a shame, cause the damage is already done.

How long have you been dying your hair for and what type of process would you get done to your hair

I started dyeing my hair about 3 years ago. The first few months I did it myself, but it was always too orangey/reddish (due to my natural dark brown hair).
But then after a few months, I developed a reaction on my scalp from the color/dye product.
For the last two years, I have been going to this lady who puts a cap on my head, and does a medium/heavy pull through of my hair. Then on the roots, she uses Sun Glitz to bleach my hair blonde. No toner or anything after that. After doing the roots every 6 weeks for 2 years, I was looking too pale/yellow/golden blonde for my complexion.
So, I went to a different sylist, and she foiled in some dark color lowlights (my natural color), and then on the rest of the remaining pale hair, she used a ash blonde coloring product.
When she was through, there was some breakage, and after I did a hot oil treatment 4 days later, there was more breakage. So, now I am on the road to hair recovery (hopefully).
I am totally confused on what I am going to do in like 4 more weeks when the dark roots come in.
Should I go back to the Sun Glitz and cap method with hairstylist #1? People have been saying that that was very harsh on the hair. Although the hairstylist that uses it, says not if its used properly.
Or should I go back to the girl at the salon who helped to fry my hair? Should I call around some places and get opinions/consultations, and go to someone altogether different?
My poor hair.
