I just had my first install one week ago with Cinderella fusion extensions. I absolutely LOVE them! My question- I am able to afford maintaining these and replacing them properly (this set was $1500, plus a $250 tip). Does that mean that every 3 months they can be replaced (re-install)? Will I have to have them taken out and then wait between installs for a few weeks or more? Can my stylist just taken the ones that need repair out and replace them? My real hair is cut in the Posh bob- these extensions are 22 inches.
This board is fantastic! I've spent the last ten days reading all the posts, even the old ones from a year ago!

its harder to reuse fusion bonds because the tips are crunched/disolved/disintigrated during removal. However. If you are very careful with removal you should be able to save alot of them. The tips would need to be re-tipped with keratin to install them again.

Thanks for the reply! i don't want to reuse the hair- new hair every three months is fine by me. I just didn't want to have to go a few weeks with the short hair in between installs. ------------- |

| This is something I've been wondering also, but for different reasons. I've had extensions since July & it's making me nuts that I can't give my scalp a good scrubbing! I mean, I guess it's clean b/c I know the shampoo & water hits it, but I'm dying for a good scrubdown. I'm wondering if it's healthier to take the extensions out periodically for at least a few days & let your scalp "breathe" a little, so to speak? |

Wearing extensions in the long run may or may not damage the natural hair. It depends on the condition and strength of the natural hair, and the skill of they stylist in placement and removal. Can you be guaranteed your hair won't be damaged in the long run? The answer is no, but just inspect your hair after each take down.
After 12 weeks all the extensions need to be taken out and reapplied close to the scalp. $1500 every 12 weeks is steep. There are cheaper ways to go. My clients never pay that much money unless they are using European hair.
For $1500, I would have expected the stylist to tone your hair to match. (you mentioned you wish you had toned it beforehand). Also, to get better blending of those top layers, more hair should be added as high up as you can go. It's hard blending layers that are as short as yours.

My hair matched well, my highlights were just a little harsh. I'm okay spending $1500 every 12 weeks as long as it looks good. Maybe that is silly of me. This is my first time with extensions that weren't clip-ins, so I felt like I needed to pay a lot to get the best results I could, plus this was my regular salon and I feel confident with the stylists there. I had a consult in August and was told my hair was too short then and to wait 3 months so that I would get nicer blending. I appreciated that they didn't just say "sure" back then and take my money (which I feel a lot of places would have done)- so for me, they started out on the right foot and I feel like I got excellent work for the price I paid. We'll see if I still think the same thing this time next month, right? :)
My plan for right now is to see how these first 12 weeks go and then re-evaluate whether I want to stick with another Cinderella install or look for someone else.
