... is it normal to lose when blow-drying extensions (fusion)? I had four strands fall out when drying today. That doesn't seem like a big deal, and maybe a few of them were my real hair, but how many is normal and how many is cause for alarm?

All of my bonds are fine (I go through each individual one daily- a little OCD ya think?) and still feel and look like they did on day one.

Depending on the method and the skill of your hair stylist, you may or may not lose bonds.  I primary use the shrink links and micro rings.  Most of my clients lose only 10-20 strands over a 3 month period.

I feel that fusion extensions, like Cinderella, tends to shed a lot.  I think Cinderella uses cheap hair and the bond in not so great.  I have never used them, only heard from other people who have, and also talked with the Cinderella people at hair shows.

I don't think it's normal or acceptable to lose 4 strands this soon.

Thanks for your reply. I haven't lost a *bond* just individual hairs. I have them checked again next week, so if any continue to shed I will definitely have her address it.

shedding is normal....excess shedding is not. So are you saying you had 4 INDIVIDUAL strands of hair fall out? Or all of the hair from 4 bonds?

Just individual strands of hair. The bonds are all intact. Just because I was stressing over it yesterday, I had her take a look and she confirmed the bonds were fine and that a hair or two here and there is normal.

I also asked her about the static and she suggested a different conditioner, hair dryer and water filted for my shower. My water is really hard, anyway.

So for now... all problems solved! Thanks for everyone for their advice.

I must have OCD too, because when I lost 1 of my individuals I called right away and Sand explained to me at least with indivduals to save them, (she gave me a cute gold bag because they are gold) and when I go in for maintainence she will put them back in, she told me it is normal and you can lose up to 30-50 strands and not worry. I have lost 3 and I dont even know where they  were and they still look and feel great.  Another tip she told me is to only use a pick when it is wet and I find I hold my hair in a ponytail when I dry it, so it does not place so much tension on the attachments. I am new at this so, I am learning too. Lots of Luck!!!Clap

Thanks for replying! I've been religiously checking to see if I got any more answers to this question! So far, I've lost maybe 10 strands and it has been two weeks. Of course, I am *looking* for the hairs in my brush and on the bathroom floor and when I see one keeping count. I am trying really hard to not be the kind of client who comes in every week just to ask questions... though I am very tempted to call tomorrow and see if she can fit me in for a blow-out so I can hit her with my latest round of questions!

You mean 30-50 strand of your own natural hair not whole bonds right?

Don't worry about strands, worry if it's bonds, a few strands here and there when u brush are completely normal, it could be your own natural hair also.  Don't worry unless your shedding like crazy!
