What is the recommended intake of biotin? I consulted a dermatologist and he suggested me to take biotin twice a day. The biotin tablets available in my local stores is just 5 mg. Is that adequate? Should I consider taking it thrice a day?!

Also, for completely different reasons I was asked to take folic acid tablets as well. I was actually delighted that it helps to grow hair better too, while surfing on the boards! I would like to know the recommended dosage of folic acid tablets. I'm currently taking folvite (5 mg), twice a day. Will that be enough?

Sorry no one answered you before, I don't take vitamins anymore.

30 mcg per day is considered nutritionally adequate.  5mg is way over that

5mg=5000mcg

Biotin deficiency is pretty rare, so I can't even imagine a person needing 2  a day, much less 3.

Folic acid is recommended at 400ug a day, and again 5mg is way over that.
