I am back w/my Q of the day. Smile

I've always used Natural Instincts temp color but haven't since I got the extensions in July.  I'm kind of skittish.  I read a post on here about someone who colored their hair & their links turned their hair green.

I have Hairlocs, is it OK to use temp color?  It won't mess up the copper links or my hair?  Is there more potential for damage?  My gray is really starting to show & it's making me feel old! Cry

Sorry, I must have missed this thread. Sometimes extension hair doesn't color the way your own hair does. Are you able to just color your own hair?

No, I don' t think so.  I am using temporary color--no peroxide or ammonia--does that make a difference?

The Hairlocs site says you can color as usual, but I'm still scared.  On the other hand, I have a bunch of wiry grays on top of my head that look awful.

Is it one or the other?  Extensions or color?  Not extensions AND color? Confused

When I color my hair with extensions in, I've always just do the top and the hairline where there is no extensions just so I don't hit the bonds, you only see the top anyway at the roots, unless u wear your hair up and you will stll have the hairline covered! Does that make sense?

UGH!  Yes, that makes sense, thanks saralee.  I wear my hair up quite a bit, I'm in the gym at least 10 hours a week.  But maybe I'll just do the top to get rid of the grays that show most--they make me feel so old & frumpy! Cry

No, it's just easier to color your hair when the extensions are off. I'm sure you can color all of it but you won't know how that extension hair will take the color and you don't want two different colors when you're finished. ya know?
