After trying a wash-in, wash-out (6-8 shampoos - more like 3!) and getting good results and I'm going to dye my hair from reasonably dark brown to black.

However, I'm not going to go permanent dye just yet. Building up to it.

I did look at local chemists, and the next step up from 6-8 washes is 24 washes temp colors. The ones to cover grey, mostly. HOWEVER, these dyes all contain hydrogen peroxide. All I know is that it bleaches hair of color. Will this damage or discolor the hair under the temp dye? Once that washes out, with my hair be a faded color with obvious roots?

Someone did suggest Henna, but I know of no stockists. (No credit card, no online purchasing for me.)

I'm sorry I'm not very familiar with different dyes, however, I can offer this advice- think long and hard before you permanantly dye your hair black, your losing your natural colour forever and it is extremmmmely hard to 'reverse'. This is coming from someone in that exact position. :)

With that said, I wish you the best of luck with your new hair colour!

You haven't understood my question...

I'm looking for a temporary 24-shampoos hair dye. The ones I can find have hydrogen peroxide in. I am just wondering if that will fade my natural hair color if I decide not to continue dyeing my hair black and let the color wash out.
