The links at the top of the forums have expired.

I have hairlocs & I've had a lot of problems finding someone who does them well.  I'm considering switching methods b/c hairlocs is so hit or miss & there's an experienced extensionist nearby who I could use.

Fusion does not use heat or wax, correct?  I'm trying to find out exactly what the method consists of & whether it's healthier for hair than hairlocs.  Any advice would be much appreciated!

Fusion is with heat. Where do you leave at. There are stylist that post on the board all the time. Goodluck

TooSense, I also just posted some info for African American hair. I hope this helps. Feel free to PM me if I didn't answer all of your questions.

Maybe this is cold fusion then?  Or shrinkies?  I'm so confused! Confused  Here's the description from the salon's website:

Fusion

The extension hair is attached to a small portion of your own hair with a four strand braid, adhered with a slim piece of synthetic hair to secure the braid. Due to quicker replacement time it is less stress on the hair. Easy removal, with oil and comb.

  • Best for soft wave to curly hair
  • Lasts 10-12 weeks
  • Great for adding volume and body
  • Can be brushed through

if it is pinchbraids, I've heard nothing but rave reviews about that method, so long as you have someone that does it well... it's prob worth trying out!

thats definitely a braid method and not fusion. I think the pinchbraid is usually a three strand braid. It might be the hairpolice method that uses the 4 strand braid(box braid)...not sure but either way its not 'fusion' as we typically think of fusion..

Fusion Method:
Fusion hair extensions are attached by glueing small (approx)1/4 inch sections of hair with a near equal amount of extension hair. The glue is hot, and the strands of extension hair and natural hair are rolled into a cylinder shaped bond. Fusion can be done with a glue gun and glue sticks, a hot pot with keratin chips, pellets, grains or any varying forms, or with a heat wand and preglued strands (aka nail tips). Keratin glue is the preferred glue for fusion extensions.

Pinchbraid Method:
The extension hair and a thick thread are braided with the natural hair for about an inch, at which point the ends of the thread are wrapped around the base of the braid and tied, securing it. This method is best for synthetic hair (but can also be used for human hair).
