i have seen that you can now purchace the copper microtubes (proshells) with a silicone lining.. i love microlinks for their versatility but found the ordinary ones slipped alot on my fine hair.. i would have instantly got the silicone lined microlinks but i had trouble keeping the last ones hidden for my hair is extreamly fine, so id have no hope with the silicone lined... but i know that proshells flatten much flatter so how bulky would they be with silicone? as bulky as silicone mircorings, or flatter? also if anyone has pics of silicone microlinks installed please post them up for me.. i dont want to spend money on a method that just wont work with my thin hair

I can't *really* answer your question, but here is what I have done.  I, like you, cannot wear the silicone lined micro rings, way too bulky in my hair.  I love trumpet trubes because they lay so flat, but my last install I got a fair amount of slipping....So, I borrowed the advice of a member on a different forum.  I got some aquarium silicone, some toothpicks, some rubber gloves and my trumpet tubes.  I would put a little silicone on the toothpick and then run it all over the inside of the trumpet.  So, I have a very thin layer of silicone on each trumpet tube and hopefully this will help my natural hair hang on better.  I have done my install yet tho....

Assinnanom how is the removal process with this technique? And punrocker18 the copper silicone lined microrings will do the same thing, but they are longer. So it will longer and wider and harder to hide.

Personally, I think removal of trumpet tubes is a synch.  I haven't done my install yet with the trumpet I lined w/ silicone, but I'm not forseeing any problems with removal.

On the whole, I like the trumpet tubes.  They lay very flat, are easy to hide, comfortable to wear and I don't have to worry about my bonds breaking down.  The only down side is that I cannot put my hair in a high ponytail like I can with wefts.  But, I rarely do this anyway, except for at night and I don't care if my husband sees my extensions....

I use the copper tubes, and they are so neat! My hubby does my hair, and when I want to remove them, they're a snap! and they lay flat on your head!

I find the silicone lined rings a bit more bulky too. The copper tubes/trumpet tubes/proshells are so much thinner. I know of a few people who line the inside of them with a little aquarium sealant (just like asinnamon described) It gives them a little more grip, and doesnt add any bulk to the tube and prevents the copper from making contact with your hair.

I do not have anywhere near the patience to line each one myself but from what I've seen in pix, the tubes that come silicone lined are quite thick.  I would pay extra if there were somewhere you could buy tubes just lightly lined enough to get a little bit of a grip.  Lately everyone (all having thin, slippery hair types)  I've used the regular thin tubes on has been getting quite a bit of slippage!  I have noticed that certain types of hair tips are better or worse for this problem.  Hair that is pretipped with the soft gummy stuff sticks better than say, 808 flashpoint hair that is a hard, smooth tip that is difficult to flatten.  Does anyone want to sell me 250 aquarium sealant lined microrings??  Is it maybe not as time consuming as I imagine?  Are there any pictures of how to do this?
