I`ve recently started a budget that doesn`t allow for me to buy salon brand shampoo/conditioner anymore. I was wondering if anyone could give me some recommendations for good store brand items? I need something that will add moisture to my hair. Thanks. Becky |

You may want to check out some of the clone brands at Sally`s - they have a version of Aveda called Aura, a version of Biolage and a version of Paul Mitchell. They also have Loreal Nature`s Therapy which I haven`t tried but have heard good things about from others on this board. They are still pricier than drugstore brands but not as pricey as salon brands with similar ingredients. I have found it is a good compramise because cheaper products wreck my hair and I have to spend more money to get it back in shape or cut it! ------------- |

mommak is right, right, right! Personally I just couldn`t live without Sally (well I`d live but my hair wouldn`t.) It`s the halfway house between the drugstore and salon brands. Aura and Nature`s Therapy are among my very favorite lines. Some of the products (especially conditioners) will run close to $10, but you get a lot and it`s good stuff. Some of my personal favorites for my thick, dry hair: * Aura Almond Cherry Bark revitalizing conditioner: This is the Aveda knockoff and personally I think it works far better. Very emollient and moisturizing--you just have to REALLY like the cherry licorice scent. * Biotera Reconstructor: Another great conditioner with a Biolage-grade HEAVENLY scent. * Clairol Color ProTec Daily Replenisher: I just love this one. The ingredients are exactly what dry hair needs. It makes no difference that this is aimed at color-treated hair. * Phyto Systeme Hydra-Botanics Shampoo: VERY mild and cleans well. Smells like a tropical drink. * L`oreal Nature`s Therapy Mega Moisture Shampoo: This whole line smells yummy. I like this gentle shampoo a lot. The Mega Moisture cream is good but I like the other conditioners I mentioned slightly more. Also, if you use Suave shampoo, only do so with caution--check the ingredient lists for sodium laureth sulfate as the main cleanser. Stay away from sodium LAURYL sulfate and the ammonium laureth/lauryl sulfates, since these can dry hair with repeated use. The conditioners won`t kill your hair but most won`t add the moisture you need if your hair is quite dry. I`d recommend checking out Sally, spending a bit more (but not a lot) and getting what you want. :-) ------------- Look for beauty, and you will find no intelligence. I've been so busy since moving in with my new husband and getting married that I completely forgot that there's a SALLY'S 1.5 MILES FROM MY HOUSE NOW!!!! I've never even been to one!!!!!!
