Okay- I've been doing hair for 2 years- so I am semi new to this.
I am no longer working in a salon so I need help!

I am a natural Level 6 -- and I want to be a all over Ash Level 9.5
I do 40vol with 2 parts 9.1 (ASH) and 1 part 9.0 (natural) (Wella)

The Outcome is ALWAYS Brassy- Slighty Orange/Yellow/VERY Gold

I've left it on for 45 mins- then changed it to 1 hour- and the outcome is always about the same. I've even changed the formula to using 9.0 (natural) and 10.0 (natural) and I STILL get the Bright Orange color. I don't get it?! Is the Developer too strong?

Help me.. What am I doing Wrong?? Cry

A level 6 needs bleach to obtain a level 9. You will have to prelighten with bleach first and get it to the pale yellow stage. Then, use a weaker developer, say 20 volume, with about 3:1 ratio of neutral to violet based toner. I'd try asking Claude on his thread as well as he is professionally trained. My advice is to always do a strand test first and spare the rest of your head the trouble and breakage until you get it right.
