hello, i was hoping someone could help me out on this one. A few months ago i used colorfix to rid my hair of a rainbow of colors .Then i applied a nice professional color (light auburn) but i used i think it was 10 developer due to my ends being so porous (i forgot to get a filler) hoping that the color would be pretty close to the same all over. The results turned out well but much darker then i had hoped .I knew my hair would be darker due to it being so porous and the 10 developer. Now i would like to lighten it up so i'm wondering if i should use the colorfix again and get rid of this meduim auburn shade oe if i could just use the light auburn color w/a 30 developer . What do you all think ? Thank you so much

If you are happy with the colour, but it's just too dark for you, don't strip it again. Colour removing products are very similar to bleach and are harmful to hair.

Use anti-dandruff shampoo which removes colour quite well (not the whole lot, but will fade it). But since your hair is porous, the colour is going to fade quite a bit on it's own. Afterwood, put a lighter colour that you prefer over the top.

I'm not sure about the developer though, not my field. We need lovely Rebekah in here with her professional advice. :)

I'm the meantime, get washing! (and deep conditioning lol)

Good luck love,

Thanks ally ,Yeah i colored almost 3 months ago so yeah its faded alot still looks nice just a bit to dark for me .Still i know i'll need to go up 2 levels to get to my desired level .i know the 20 won't do it and 40 will be way to light .So looks like 30 is the winner lol .Just wondering about using the colorfix again as my hair is still quite dark even after all this time .I hate to use it if i don't need to.  so i'm not going there .Thanks a ton

Talking to my hair dresser the other day, she said colour stripping products "are crap" and that bleaching is a better option. But that's just her opinion. If it were me i'd bleach it, with the 20 vol or 30 vol as an estimate, watch the hair as it lightened and wash off when appropriate. Then the lighter colour over top. It's hard with dyed hair, though. Is seeing a hairdresser a possibility?

Boy i sure hate to use bleach on my hair .I have fine hair and bleach just ruins my hair making it all stretchy when wet and like straw when dry and just looks and feels awful. That is just one of the reasons i quit seeing a hairdresser a couple years ago And had to shave my head and live in caps and scarves for what seemed like forever.I liked the color fix as it took the color out and left my hair still feeling good just a little dry but otherwise did what i wanted. Ty for your reply Have a great day .

Go for the stripping product then, if it works well for you and are experienced with it. :)
