Here’s my breakdown: naturally: I have dark brown hair, currently: I have a light brown color (that was achieved through a mixture of blonde highlights via bleach and medium brown low lights via color) what I want: a medium blonde..

My question however, is one I’m making solely out of fear- that is of never having my hair grow because of all the breakage going blonde in the past has caused me.

But, more specifically my question is in regards to my hair colorist… In order to get dark brown hair blonde is obviously no small feat.. The practice of my stylist I am questioning is in regards to the method in which she treats my roots and as to whether that may be the reason why my hair never grows…

When coloring the roots of an individual who has gone blonde (but like in my case has very dark roots)--- are the roots SOLELY bleached?  My stylist takes pieces of my hair and puts bleach not only on the root portion but also on the portion that has already been bleached.. therefore, If im getting my roots done every six weeks or so, there are parts of my hair getting bleached 3 or so times over(hence causing the damage that I feel never allows my hair to grow past my shoulders).. Is this normal? 

What is the normal process in which brunettes that can only achieve blonde through bleach, attack the issue of roots keeping the health of their hair  in mind?

I'd love to hear what other methods brunettes gone blonde (and their colorists) are using...
