I've been stuck in the long bangs, shaggy cut for a long time now and I'm pretty bored with it.

As you can see, with my glasses it looks nerdy and the hair kind gets out of control wavy and all. I was looking for opinions on what I could do to my hair. Here's a pic showing my hairline:

As I'm looking for a change, I'd like to get all the hair off off my forehead somehow since I think it would balance my face more. I was wondering if I could do one of these more wild styles?
  How would I go about from where I am now to getting a style like these? How would I handle the bangs and keep them off my face?
