I have tried several times  strand testing my hair to see if I can go to a medium blonde or a dark blonde but my color will not budge.  I have medium brown hair and recently used  color oops to remove some red from my  hair.  My strand test doesn't get lighter nor darker  just the same.  What's up with this?  My h air isn't damaged.  Please help_popupControl();

Lightening/bleaching hair depends on three things, generally:

- The strength of the product your using
- How much pigment the hair has to begin with
- The amount of time the product is left in the hair

Hair colour will not lift your hair to blonde, best it can do is lift one or two shades. You need bleach.

It is totally possible for medium brown to be blonde. What product are you using and how long are you leaving it on for?

You had another thread asking what kinds of bleach were best? Are you using a bleaching kit?

No i Haven't used bleach yet.   I just want to  lighten my hair from  medium brown to light brown or dark blonde.   I  was trying  to do this using  hicolor  from loreal and  a 30 volume developer.   When I  use it the color just stays the same and doesn't budge.   _popupControl();

That is odd...a high lift color should at least lighten some to an orangey tone.

You will probably have to bleach to lighten the hair  first until reddish or orangeish and then color with either a dark (ash) blonde or light brown.

What might be happening is you still have residue of colour in your hair, and colour doesn't remove colour. I can understand being hesitant with bleach, but in this case it's the answer.

Maybe ask your hairdresser's advice next time you go in for a trim.

I would just use any dye that matches the color you want.Alot of people here seem to like Wella though.

I liked this site as it shows what she used, how to measure, line of demarcation using a  doll head & descriptors...

She used wella wellite  http://bp2.blogger.com/_sXI8Dr0DFV0/R3xk5y3Z0QI/AAAAAAAAFdU/FwPHaTnNFeo/s1600-h/DSCF0980.JPG

If you scroll all the way down the site it has specific instructions.  She recommends reading all of the site to understand everything first.

Before you go for the big bleach, have you considered a full head of honey blonde highlights?
