I thought if you have been waving for a long time and your pattern was down your waves wouldn't vanish when you washed your hair.I went to the barber shop and got my hair cut against the grain which is two things I haven't done in a long time. The barber got finished cutting my hair passed me the mirror and I'm thinking "Oh hell yeah he go be my permanent barber".The cut was low but the visibilty of my waves was the best I'd remember ever seeing them.I got home hopped in the shower and as usual the appearance of my waves had weakened. Its four days later and they're not back to how they usually look.

These are the after wash pics.I would of had before pics but I had planned on taking a shower then doing a regular update.

looks like we in the same boat, the update i had was right when i got done cuttin my hair, it's been 3 days and the visibility with my waves is low like yours.  i'm just hoping they don't vanish completely or i'ma have to drop out of the battles i'm having in march

****WARNING****
DO not wash your hair after getting a cut especially if it's lower than a #2 instead take a paper towel with some rubbing alcohol and clean off your hairline so you don't possibly breakout, water shrinks the hair so if your waves are light then after you wash your hair your waves will be almost non-existent/ or loss of definition, so I wouldn't recommend letting water hit the hair for at the least 4 days, and be careful brushing it especially with people who have similar texture to myself.

halloween11 See I warned about this.  Your waves are still hitting hard though even though you lost some visibility.

I wait 4 days, so that my new growth can at least come in a little bit, so I won't lose as much visibility.

lol i don't know about waiting 2 weeks, but if you wanna be safe safe, wake a week at the most.  i noticed that if you're gonna lose any visibility in your waves it's gonna happen in 4-5 days.. after that you won't lose any unless you completely stop brushing and du-ragging

This is the unabridged version of my after haircut washing theory.

I don't recommend washing your hair after you get a haircut.  There are two main reasons why I say this.  First, you should wash your hair before you get a cut so that it is clean and free of products.  Since you should wash your hair prior to your cut, washing it afterwards is redundant and pulls out more of your hair's natural oils that its trying to reproduce.  That's also why I don't recommend over-washing.  Second, by not washing your hair right after you get a cut, you allow your haircut and your new length wave pattern to set in.  This is especially true if you do not have a strong base wave pattern.  Even if you have a strong wave pattern, you will lose some defintion if you immediately wash your hair after a cut.  I recommend brushing off the loose hairs with a soft brush, adding a moisturizer or small amount of pomade, if desired, followed by brushing and putting on a durag or wave cap, if possible.  After a couple of days, your hair cut and its pattern should be set and then it should be okay to wash. Also, note that you should use warm to semi-hot water, but not scolding hot, to wash your hair.  The warm to semi-hot water opens your hair's pores and allows your hair follicles and attached strands to relax causing your waves to lay down better while shower brushing.  It's the same concept that spas use for opening up your face's pores when they place a warm towel on it.  After you finish shower brushing apply a small amount of cool water to your head to allow your pores to re-close.  Then apply a moisturizer or pomade, if needed, and continue brushing.

Remember:  After a haircut, be in a rush to brush, but don't prematurely wash.

The King C vs Lil D thread was very suspicious. It was 44 votes for each of us HOW!!!.Its not even 20 of us that come on this site on the regular.I doubt over 60 something people was lurking and decided to vote.Only thing I can think of is an administrator had something to do with it.
