Hi, right now I'm interested in "i-tip" extensions with micro rings.

My hair is shoulder length, but I have A LOT of short layers.
I have a fringe, and my shortest layers are about... 4 inches long.

I want to have a FULL HEAD of extensions, but I don't want my layers to just sit on top, because that will make it obvious that I have extensions... plus it will probably look bad.

But if I put extensions in on the very top of my head, will the micro rings show? Confused

I don't even know if my question made sense, but I'm afraid my really short layers will look bad with my extensions.

Preferably 3 inches but I've done shorter. If you're getting a full head, the extensions won't show if done properly.

thanks, i would like a full head, it would just be weird for people to see little ring things on my head Wink but i'm glad my hair isnt too short!

With shorter natural hair or lots of layers, you will probably need to add alot of extension hair and alot of layering to blend. But it definitely can be done on shorter hair. If your shortest layers are 4 inches it shouldnt be a problem.

Unless you are doing a full sew in, you can only go so high with most other methods. Extensions are generally not put on top, usually the crown is left free of extensions.

I had a hair cut gone bad.... they gave me the Victoria Beckham look and shaved up the back of my head!  It has been growing out for 6 months now (the back is about 3 inches) and I have micro links.  I have very fine hair so sometimes you can see them, but it took 300 strands to fill my head since nothing is in the back.  Regardless you should be fine.  My natural hair is so short I cant really wear it straight, but I curl it with hot rollers every day and nobody can tell

Thanks for the replies everyone ^_^
I'm glad extensions can be put on top, i hate the whole "short hair on top of extensions look" so unnatural imo :s

Sky - I am kind of in the same situation. I have longer hair in the front and on top, but she shaved the back and I hate it.

My stylist is going to do micro-rings on most of my hair and a weft over the very short part (it's about a half an inch) while that grows out. I'm really anxious to see how she's going to make it all blend.

Do you have any pictures of yours that you wouldn't mind posting?

I will.  I am installing more in the back this week cause I am not happy with the fullness.  I will make sure to take pics and post them.  But the blending with my natural hair is hard, not going to lie.  That is why I curl it everyday, so you cant tell

how many i tips do you guys have to have?
because i seriously dont know how many i should buy, i'm afraid the hair person will start from the bottom and then not have enough i tips to put on the very top, so i'll have weird short hair on tops of extensions :(

I like long thick hair - so I put in 300 - the girl did 250 and it wasnt enough for me which is why I am getting more in.
