Hi everyone!

I am having my consultation tomorrow with a lady here in town.  She does microlinks(or microbeads is what she called them) and I was wondering besides the basic questions(how long she has been doing them, how to care for them, customer referrals etc) is there anything else I should be asking?  She did say on the phone that she uses bohyme hair but that was about it.  I want to be wel-informed and get the most out of my consultation.  I had a consult last week for GL's but I am not 100% pleased with what I read about them and my neighbor uses the lady I went to for the consultation and hers are not always nice looking.  Also,  the extensionist said that Gl will curl/wave once it is washed meaning I will have to flat iron it if I want it straight and since my own hair is stick straight, that seemed a little odd to me.  Anyone else with experience in that?  I am also going to try to set up a time with MetalGirl here to consult with her too.  Thanks in advance for any help!

Thanks Sand!  I wish I were closer to you so I could consult with you!  I am just not sure that hubby would like me flying to SoCal for hair.  LOL  He is just now getting over the shock of the cost but he is getting better with it. LOL

Also ask her what kind of links she is using, I have hair locs in now which are holding great, but I had a previous different kind of link which did not hold in my hair. I have very thin straight hair, and the hair matches beautiful but has a little wave to it, I am 99% sure that any kind of hair you get will have to be worked on if you want perfectly straight hair, I dont think there is a brand out there in which you wash it and it dries straight.

I have fine, thin, extremely straight, can't hold a curl to save its life, hair.  LOL  I don't mind working with it, I just want to make sure it is not an obvious "this is my extensions" look.  I wouldn't mind having some curl or wave to it though.  Having lived with stick straight hair my entire life(39 in April), I would love to have some wave. LOL  In her ad it was called Beauty Locs.  I will definitely find out more.  Thanks!

Also I know everyone is different on what they expect from their extentions, some people want thick really long locks, I on the other hand just wanted length. I had about 9 different extension techniques by different hairstylist's. At first I wanted the really thick super long hair not realizing what it took to keep up with it. Then trying everything from link to sew in's to skin wefts ( my last install before this I swear the hair was 20lbs lol ). So i finally found a stylist who listened to me and heard all of my trial and errors. She put in this time only about 100 strands ( as from 250 before ) and my hair is exactly how I want now, I can hardley tell this time I have extensions because my head doesn't feel so weighed down. Also ask her about placement. The link method I had before this I couldn't wear a ponytail because the bonds showed alot, now you can't see them.

Thanks Sourgirl.  I read about your nightmare with GL's and really feel for you.  I am sure this will be trial and error too.  I am looking for length but also volume.  I will keep everyone posted.

Hey LdyAprxr, can you pay with a credit card?

This lady only takes cash or checks(as did the GL extensionist).  I wish I could find someone to take credit card since it is so much easier(I never use cash lol) but it seems like everyone requires cash or check.

I take credit cards and debit cards!  I have my own processing terminal.  It's a serious mistake to not take credit cards if you're in the hair extension business.
