i got that for christmas this past year and its good and all, but the #2 (which i normally get) seems too big to cut the hair the length i want it. it has a "taper control" that changes cutting lengths in 4 settings, but even in the lowest setting it seems too long.

here's the link: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5811434 - http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5811434

it seems like its for white people hair though. because it has a left and right taper etc., and i have a friend who has the EXACT same hairstyle as that

yea i asked for the Andis T Outliners but she was like ill get u whatever i see. so i was like ok as long as it cuts hair. but since it cuts longer if i want a "real" #2 should i close up the clippers all the way and put on a #1?

by the way i have a wahl trimmer although its for facial hair i cut my hair with it once, and performed very well. but i had to give it to my dad because i got the conair clippers =[. the only thing conair is better than the wahl in is cutting off my widows peak becuase it grows back regularly.

The plastic guards are all really bout the same.. If you use wahl clipper guards (or most standard brands) which you can get for a couple bucks at sallys, they are usually universal and will work fine on your conairs.  I doubt thatll make a big difference.  Are you sure your barber doesnt use a 1.5 Oster which is different than on lever clippers.  I call a 1.5 with lever clippers a #1 with the blades open all the way or half..

PS I found this useful link of information.  Somebody should copy, paste, and credit this info in our FAQ

yea thats what i was thinking because the #1 looks like a number 2, and the #2 looks like a 3 or 4

what i just do is put a 1 and open the clippers all the way which adds 1/2" so making it a 1.5 so if you have a 2 and close it its a 2 but open its a 1.5.....depending cuz atg will be different ratios

are you saying the guard itself looks like a 2??....dont go by looks

puttin on a 2 and closing it wont make it a 1.5
its a 2! the taper bar starts at the normal spot, then extends
