Gaaaah, lol. I`m going to my stylist for what will basically be a color appointment in a few hours. I have thick, wavy, medium-length (by hairboutique`s standards), medium brown hair with NO red in it naturally (just fyi) and a few blond hilights here and there. The hilights are hardly noticable.
I do not know what to do with it. I don`t want dye my hair permanently. Is it possible to go lighter with a semi-permanent? or should I get more hilights? I`ve had a lot of people not react well to the idea of me going redder, though I really wish I could. Or should I go darker, which I would be open to (though I`ve had a lot of people react badly to that too).
To get an idea of what I look like, please go here (I`m the one in the middle): http://www.geocities.com/differentasusual/scruffybio.html - http://www.geocities.com/differentasusual/scruffybio.html
My hair is about an inch longer than in the pic, and not as curly or wavy. I have a color pic on the same page of me riding a horse, so that might give one an idea of my skin tone.
Any suggestions? I do NOT know what to do. Anything at all would be greatly appreciated, esp. if it is w/in the next hour or so :].

Hi! After looking at your pics, I think that either going blonder or redder would work for you. Your hair is a nice shade for subtle blond highlights that frame your face. Notice that I said subtle! I don`t like that streaky black/white look at all!
That said, I love the reddish highlights that pop up naturally in brown hair. You could comprimise by putting in a strawberry blond color. That way, it looks mostly blond but still has the sparkle of red. I think it would look great!
Good luck! Let us know what you decide to do (and post another pic)!

Definitely a good experience, yesterday. I got some chestnut "hilights" that are actually more of just a different color but same tone/shade as my hair. I really, really like them. The redness makes my green eyes pop (odd sounding, lol, but true) and helps me envision how my hair will look when I get a semi-permanent brown-red rinse in it sometime this winter (therefore, not as much sun damage. I`m really happy. Hardly a noticable change, I hate streaks, but definitely enough to make me happy with it. For once, I good hair experience!
Oh, and just fyi, my stylist tried the new matrix smoothing system products on my hair and I really like them. Definitely good results. I`m planning to buy some when she gets them in stock; I don`t think they`re in drugstores. I`d suggest them as a new product to try for us wavy-haired girls :].
