I don't know for sure but MetalGirl put in some highlights on my natural hair just before she did the install but I am not sure whether it would be different for a full color.  Sorry I can't be of more help.

I've had two sets of fusion extensions and had my hair colored right before they were applied. 

However, I do believe you do not want to condition your hair right before applying extensions.
