saturday i went and bought 2 boxes of color oops super or extra strength....i followed directions and it did nothing....i had shades eq on my hair and i know that it is hard to break through that but i feel it should have done something....i ended up doing a bleach cap and got my hair where i wanted it.....should i have just bought the regular color oops?  i thought about that in walgreens.

it went well...just stand and look in the mirror so you can catch it when you get to where you want to be....between the lousy super strengh color oops and the bleach my ends feel dry, of course....wish i had just done the bleach cap....good luck.

The super strength should have worked better than regular strength! I don't know what happened. Was the color very very dark? You mixed the two formulas well? Was it very cold in your house? Beats me.

So how do you do the bleach cap? I think I know what it is but am not sure.

It's a demi-permanent.

Bleach Soap Cap
1 oz shampoo
1 oz conditioner
2 oz bleach
2 oz 40 vol developer

Mixed together and applied to the hair, scrubbing to remove artificial pigment. Lifts 1 to 1.5 levels.

Thanks Alley. Too bad you can't lift more levels that way.

hee hee, yes, lovely bleach....no, my hair was not dark at all....level 7 red...i had quit putting color on to just grow out my natural red hair (and just touch up the grays)....it was just so brassy!!  i had just put a level 9 shades in vanilla creme to tone it down but it went more brassy....got the super strength color oops, followed the directions, mixed and shook well, then applied.....oh the smell!  it did not remove any color...and it is a demi-perm....maybe that was the problem...but after the bleach cap, i used 20v, it was able to put a level 9 NGB and it came out a nice shimmery red....so, who knows?

Hey lovetocolor,
I was just wondering how long you rinsed out the Color Oops? You are supposed to rinse it for a full ten minutes and shampoo twice.

i did that....had husband time me...washed twice....i think it was the redken shades eq....you have to use special stuff to remove that...that is the conclusion i have drawn anyway.

Try a colour remover that removes metallic salts. Other removers won't get rid of these, and that might the reason the others didn't work.

like the metalex?  i was reading in my redken book and if you want to take out the shades (besides using bleach)  it says you have to use "shades lightening crystals" within the first 24 hrs.....well i waited 2 weeks...... i have a great color now going on....i have not used the clear eq yet to gloss it as it is shiny enough so far.  this is good info though, and i really do appriciate it!
