I know we feel let down because BMH has been shut down for a while.

Lets share what BHM has done for us.

Make sure to tell Before and After

SO I will start

Before:

I was a member on here.I was doing research in hairworld, looking up African American hair and the homepage is what I found. From then I, I lurked. I read as much as I couldm then decided what forums to be a member of.

After:
Once it slowed down on HB, I saw that all of my hair friends were at BMH. THey were so welcoming. I love the friendships, information and celebrity gossip BHM plus the drama is hilliarious.

Now, come on and share!

Before I joined BHM:
I was searching around tha web tryin' ta find ways ta stop my hairloss, at least help with it, and to learn how ta better take care of my hair...I did a web search about products that weren't good n came across BHM...I lurked around for awhile then decided ta join & ask questions from those who know a whole lot more than I do about hair n weaves n stuff

After I joined:
I learned alot more about hair & how ta take care of it, what products ta use & came across some great products that I just love & wouldn't of found or thought of using if it wasn't for BHM. Also from here I learned alot more about weaves & extensions n which gave me more ideas for changin' up my look, so now when I see a style I like, I keep it in mind for tha future..and it has become addicting LOL

I joined here after BHM went down, but this wasn't tha 1st time I've been here, I had tried to register in tha past, but always had some technical difficulties...

Great history.

Yeah, the site  have technical difficulties, too often for my taste. If it is not one site it is another.

So what stuff would you have not thought to use  if it was not from BHM? Can you elaborate on that.

Yea we were all lost before BHM lol. I am  not ashamed to admit it. My hair was in a state of perpetual dehydration, ends were jacked up. You name it, I suffered from it lol. But now my hair is healthy and thriving thanx to the information I found on BHM and the tips from the members who were soo helpful. My hair has never been better.

Honestly I came to Hair Boutique first.. (I found BHM through this forum..) I was a stone cold Extensions Plus girl (still am truth be toldTongue) and I wanted to get feedback on other available remy hair options out there.. I was doing research on other hair vendors out there in the world, and I came here (and then went to BHM) to get feedback on some of the vendors I found in my research..

Question: What have I gotten back???
(and this applies to all the forums I am a member of.. so 1st off -- gotta give a shout out to Hair Extensions 101, Hair Boutique and BHM Clap)

Answer: I've had a lot of good laughs, TONS of camaraderie, and a few great women that I'll be proud to call FRIEND/SISTER long after these forums all die..

i'm next!

before bhm i had the driest hair in the universe...lost of shedding and breakage...and really i was a shames of my hair,i could never find anything to do with it...i'm a 4a hair type so you can get some idea of how frustating that texture can be if your not informed...i always looked like thisCry

but nooow!! i have met more people with 4b hair who are encouraging and have info that really really helps out....they show you their photos and give you encouragement and suggestions...i even did one of the brick house challeges to eat healthy and lost  some weight....i love that women can join a forum and encourage you to look your best and be your best...we don't always have to put each other down....i did the wig challege also over the summer...(i didn't like the way it turned out) but i never would have thought about trying it if it wasn't for the ladies on bhm...i'm conststanly learning and looking more like thisTongue

I think these hair forums are great...you get a chance to hear and experience new ideas.

I know when I first started looking for hair care items, I was tired of not seeing nice looking African American hair, whether it be relaxed or natural.

Some of the things I was doing, like wearing alot of buns, phony ponys made from tracks/wefts and using oils, relaxing less frequently  in my hair was my idea. When I searched online, there were numerious women doing it...I felt a little warm in the heart.

It took alot of research to find natural hair sites when I first began, that was my main focus, but keeping my hair healthy overall was just as soon to me, that is what we strive for.

Before BHM I was buying over price, low quality lace fronts.  I was walking around with a jack up application. (I did not understanding the measurement part of lf and that all adhesive does not work for everybody) and my real hair was dehydrated and had split ends.  I was struggling not to loose my edges

After BHM.  I know great CV and AV vendors.  My apps are on point. My real hair is very healthy (including my edges).  It has grown tremendolous.

The only con is BHM got me strung out.  I am now addicted to lacefront and  hair forums.

cmesweet.  i've been wearing my head shaven since november 21, 2007. i must shave at least once a week.  i may grow my hair out and get a curly cute texturizer in maybe 2037 when i turn 59 i always liked to see old slim classy women with short hair.  it looks really sophisticated to me.  wheelchair

I joined BHM the same time I joined here funny thing I though it was the same forum because it kind of had like the same layout but bhm had more info for me. I learned about different hair types different vendors closures I never thought of using one because the ones I saw were the plastic ones that turned me off but I've since seen the light. I MISS MY BHM (sigh)

The difference is in the way forum admin is handled here.. Their theme song outta be "Papa Don't Take No Mess"!!! Karen doesn't allow drama jumping off on her forum.. and I mean NONE.. It's not a restrictive environment at all.. She and her admin staff just work HARD to keep it NICE, peaceful and FUN here.. and she's fair about it..

I'd like to see more women of color here, but having a smaller number of us here has NEVER stopped me from jumping in and sharing.. I've learned a lot from here as well.. I think that a lot of women sleep on HB, and have dismissed this forum as "the white hair forum", but that really doesn't accurately describe this place at all.. I see this forum as a nurturing environment for all ethnicities.. and I really commend Karen for recognizing and responding to community needs and desires.. (example the 360 and Hip Hop forums)

So as women of color, if we find and express a need that is not being met here, I am reasonably sure that Karen would look into it and make changes as needed..

I got nothing but love for BHM and many of the women there, but sometimes I just want to chat without all the cattiness and drama.. **sigh**

After lurking for a couple of days waiting to get activated, I noticed that HB is alot friendlier.

It is like you are looking for a new home and you first check out the neighborhood before moving.  The last neighborhood you were in was a little chaotic and the Commanding Officer was never on duty.  I like HB's neighborhood -- I am moving in.

I would have never found products like the Cantu Shea Butter line, I wouldn't be using pure/natural oils (like jojoba, olive), Lustrasilk Shea Butter conditioner..My hair care stash has definetly grown & I also learned what products/ingredients to look for and to watch out for..And since I've ventured into wearing weaves & extensions, BHM has been very helpful

I found BHM through hairextentions 101, I was a weave fanatic and gravitated to the weave section there i learned all the wonders of "REAL" Remi hair and ordering straight from the source and have never looked back.  then I discovered the holy grail - the lace front section! I just don't look at weaves the same anymore.

cheerHey family!! It's been lonesome on BHM nice to see y'all didn'r cybervaporate!!  drunk
Before BHM:  I was lonely and frustrated in my search for "bangin'" hair. I would roam seeking the "fix" for which could not be found.  I went to trade shows but plastic hair on lace was not the high I had to have.  While evaluating other vendors I found kindred spirits  in the vets of BHM.

After: I remain addicted, but I no longer feign for lace wigs (although I still attack the UPS driver. I also don't "kill' them as fast and learned how to bring some back from the "Dead." The infighting and hate grew tiresome.  But the most important feature came from the kindness of other sisters that paid a serious price in time, money and quality to share unselfishly. Real classy, intelligent ladies with giant hearts, immeasurable patience and kindness . . . .especially SEXI.  Anywhere she is is a class act, on that you can rely. The BS on BHM became intolerable. Without u guys it's nothing now.  barmy

Before: I actually found this site first & would "lurk" every so often, but BHM had a little more activity. I too found it through here.

After: I ended up transitioning from BSS wigs & tracks to purchasing bulk wefts, then skin wefts from CV. Then of course the Lace wigs came & OFF WENT MY HAIR!  busted  LOL
