My mother unfortunately had shingles last year, and she still has itchy sores on her scalp. Her hair has gone completely gray, but when she tried to color it, it burned horribly and left her in severe pain. Are there any kinds of dyes that she can use that won`t burn and hurt? Thanks!

Sorry to hear about your mother`s problem. As long as the sores are on her scalp, I recommend NOT coloring her hair. Once they are cleared up, there are a number of dyes on the market that work well on sensitive skin. L`Oreal makes a very good hypoallergenic professional color (consult your colorist). I have also had very good luck with henna. It is very gently and usually produces good results.

Good luck and I hope your mother will soon be able to return her hair to its former color. :)
