Okay, so after lot's an lot's of research on product as well as technique, I'm about to bleach my WHOLE HEAD tomorrow. First time my whole head's been bleached (i've had whole head highlights), as well as the first time I've bleached my entire head. I'm scared but excited. Any tips from people who have done this themselves too? |

You are not a HairStylist I wouldn't attempt this yourself. Bleaching is a very dicey situation and not being a professional stylist you can't properly evaluate your hairs current condition and you might cause severe chemical damage. Bleach lifts in stages and it could be spotty because of poor , uneven application. What is your hair's current color? You probably have died hair as well as virgin regrowth...both those need to be handled differently because one has artificial pigment and the other part of the hair does not. Also at your scalp the hair will lighten quicker because of the heat given off by your head naturally. I'm telling you now don't do it unless you are prepared to chop off all your hair in the event that you make a serious mistake and cause severe chemical damage. Damage can not be repaired...I REPEAT CAN NOT be repaired. It can only be managed until it is cut off. For the record I am a hairstylist and experienced with color and this is something no person should even attempt themselves. Also after you lighten it you will need to tone it down because it will probably look very golden blonde or yellow unless you don't lift it light enuff then it will look orange and brassy but it will need to be toned. If you can afford a salon service goto a local beauty school and have it done professionally. |

I'm not a hairstylist, but bleaching is dicy, and you will indeed never know what it will turn out to look like whenyour done. Toner, toner toner, very important! And the heat from the head thing is a thing to watch out for. Sept for me, My roots never end up as light as the rest, I dunno why. Again not a hairstylist. But I've done it, starting from natural dakr hair and dyed black hair. It's a long process and it is very damaging to your hair. So yeah, if your willing to live with the damage, go for it. But be very careful and have someone help you with the back and stuff. Try not to get too much in one area, try to keep it even. I know hairstylist hate it cause it dmages your hair and women come in complaining about what they've done. Well we are bringing them work, so I say screw it. *(personal opinion.) But I go with Calude, careful careful careful, and if you aren't a brave and understanding person, go to a salon or beauty school, *(they usually do it right the first time) usually...

Oh and if you do have hi-lights those will bleach out more and may get mushy cause they've already been bleached.... ------------- ~* Bambi Lee *~ |

The SALON is the reason I have the problems i have with my hair. There is no artificial pigment at the top of my hair, only a couple of lowlights at the bottom. I've done my regrowth MANY time at home before, and I'm very comfortable with bleach and bleach application. I know about the Ten Degrees of Decoloration and at what stage I need to remove the bleach. My hairdresser (that I used to pay over $150 or so - in a small town mind you) insisted that bleach, not a color remover would be the best way to lift out my level 2 brown hair. Just plain POWDER bleach. Wrong! I have Wella Color Touch toner and I'm using professional Wellite Oil bleach. Research and the internet is a powerful thing. You can learn how to build a speed boat motor on here. And you can learn how to dye your own hair. I don't have to fear doing my hair just so salons can stay in business. Just read a few on the posts around here, most of them should be shut down. ------------- |

i say go for it, just add a little bit of conditioner to the mix before you put it on and this show help by allowing you to keep a closer eye on every change your hair is making and when you finally see the color you like, wash it off ;] best of luck. |

Did it! It's fabulous, I love it. I put a minky beige with a touch of rose toner on it. It's a really pretty colour. I was (like usual) a bit scared that I wouldn't get the back evenly, but it worked out well! I'm about a level 10/11 ALL OVER now, and it still looks multidimensional because it was highlighted prior. Next stop level 12 platinum! ------------- |

I'm gald it turned out for ya!!! I bet it looks great and your lucky you get all that proffesional stuff. I wasn't saying don't do it, or bashing you for it, I just said it's a scary thing and bad stuff can happen and if it does it would really suck... but I'm glad it worked for you and you love it!!!
