I have 2 proms in May (mine on the 9th, and my boyfriends on the 10th), and I don't know what to do with my hair yet. I'm having a pretty hard time finding pictures, because even if I type in "long hair prom hairstyles", it comes up with BSL or a little longer styles, and my hairs close to my tail bone. Does anyone know any sites that have good pictures? I don't know if I want it up or down, curly, wavy, or straight, so thats not making finding pictures any easier.
I've also never had my hair professionally styled before. Once I find somewhere that believes they can do my hair, I want to go for a kinda consolation to make sure everything is set, and probably a trim since I haven't had one in a year. Anything I should remember to ask?

The Styling Station (some of the links on this page don't work, but many do)

Dressy Tresses

The Long Hair Community has a gallery full of very long hairstyles (I think you might need to register to see it, but I'm not sure).

Try clicking on "articles" on the left, then "hair styling".  I only see 3 there right now, but this section used to be chock full of how to styles articles....either I'm missing something or they haven't finished putting everything back up yet (the site was redone recently).  May be worth checking back to see if it appears.

There are some good sites out there with pics and instructions, just hard to find.  Is your hair straight or curly?

If I were you, I would not ask for a trim at the same time as a style.  They're likely to cut it to a length that would work for a particular style, rather than adjusting the style to your length.

If you can't get a trusted friend to trim your hair, go to the salon first for a trim and talk with them about making tiny trims and let them know up front how particular you are about it.   If you don't feel comfortable, leave.  If they seem long-hair friendly and you decide to let them trim your hair, wait until afterwards to talk to them about styling it.

If you come up with a picture of a style you like, and decide to do it yourself instead of professionally, let us know and we can try to help you figure out how to do it.

Thanks Susan. I found a few I like for prom, and a few I'd like to try for everyday.

My hair is straight. I wasn't planning on getting a trim on the same day. I might trust a few friends with my life, but not my hair.

I'm not even going to attempt to do my own hair. I'm terrible at it. I can hardly braid without a good amount of hair ending up in all 3 sections.
