Okay, I'm naturally ginger, but its a really hard colour to match with hair dyes.

I have a bleach blonde fringe, as you can see in my picture. and I want to get rid of it. by dying over it with a colour as close as possible to mine so i can let it grow out, eventually leaving my natural colour. but not being able where my natural colour and dyed colour starts and ends.

BUT!... Because its bleach blonde, I went into Superdrug and asked for advice, and the woman suggested I buy a toner to make it abit darker first, and then dye over it. with a dye closest to my colour.

I dont want anything to go wrong. So I didn't bother.

What should I do?

Whatever you do end up doing, make sure you get a protein filler from the beauty supply store. It helps the color take evenly and it's good for your hair. You will want to tone it a bit darker, because any color you put right on it will just look faded.

Riotgirl, I think your hair is lovely as it is, but I understand we get fed up with our colour and style we want a change. I agree with the post above, you need to add back pigment to the blonde by applying a copper filler this can be by applying a coloured copper mouse or a semi copper colour, then apply a colour that matches your natural hair colour. Can I just add as I live in the UK as you do , mentioning superdrug I take it you live in the UK. Staff at this store are the wrong people to ask for advise from, lol.

I love the blonde on you. That said. Karen is right, if you want to go back to your natural color, it will have to be a two-step process. First fill with a light coppery color. Then you need to find a color to match your natural. Go with semi or demi permanent for both processes. Problem is, it may be very difficult to match your natural color exactly. You may need to do some strand testing to get it as close as possible to your natural color. You may need to mix two colors together in the right proportions to get the right shade. You could get it pretty close though if you're willing to experiment a little. Good luck!

Thanks for all of your advice, I'm just scared of messing my hair up too much, cause to be completely honest I love it too much.

But I also want to keep the same shade and not completley change the shade to a different red because I'm scared it woudn't suit me, I like my shade though, its not regually you come across someone around here with the same shade.
and becuase I like to be different, I' dont really want to look like anybody else etc.

Thanks anyway, I might just go to a hairdressers and get it done. It'll be easier and if they mess it up i'll shout at them. :)

My mum is a hairdresser but shes always moody this day and age, and takes it out on everyone other than herself.
