Anyone heard of them or have any experience with this method? I've had greatlengths the last 6 months and have them out now for a break. I may try this method next time. Anyone have anything negative about this kind? Thanks in advance. |

I emailed them for some info one time, and they were sort of vague as to what the method is. | did you see what the method looked like? did she show you it in someone's hair? It sounds like it a weft that is attached to the hair with locs or something similar but it is hard to tell as they don't really describe it or offer pics of the method. |

well I called them and they say they attach a tension strap to your hair for each weft which is then attached to the tension strap with 5-6 locs. They also do some combination of braiding synthetic hair and locs to attach it. They say they guarantee no damage to your own hair and stock all the hair their shop. They offer three packages depending on the volume you want. I think the patent might be on the "tension strap" and not necessarily the method. They said you can come down any day and take a look at an installation. Does anyone live near them? if so.....would you mind doing research for all of us and checking it out? the cost ranges from $235 -$500 (includes capelli hair and installation) I am really curious about this method now  |

| I know!! I went in and they said the same thing Sofia. It sounds like it's not bad. I saw the before and afters and they look good. I think I might try this if I get mine redone. Right now I like having them out for a change. Is Capelli hair good? |

hi chanel08.....does it look bulky or pretty flat? I might look into this too if it is not too bulky. I have fine hair so I am concerned about a bump from a wefted method....it would have to lay pretty flat. |

| I have super fine hair and it didn't look bumpy at all to me. But I did notice when people get the low package (the cheapist one) it looked too thin. Like not enough hair. They suggested package 2 for me. But because it's rows, I'd assume 3 would be best for me. |

Ok, I did more research. A while back I took a business class and I bought this patent search software to use in the class. It's the same one patent lawyers use, it's called "Patent Hunter'.
Anyway, I found the patent and there was 19 pages of info, including detailed drawings of the steps.
Basically this method is not too much different than what I do with my microring weave. Basically, the natural hair is threaded in a criss cross manner through a ring and crimped down. You do this about 1/2" apart, in a row to make a flat foundation on which to sew your weft.
The only thing different that 17th and Glam does is that it includes synthetic hair in the track, which gives it more security. Many weavologists put synthetic hair in their weaves. You can buy a cheap jumbo silky braid at Sally's to do this.
Also the patent said in lieu of the synthetic hair, you could use a braided 'rope' like the kind used in bookmarks.
So that's it, the mystery is solved!
I think this kind of weave would be ok, since I don't see damage from the microring weave that I do. Hi Tangles, This is the info they gave me when I called. $235 for package 1 - includes 2 back row wefts, and four side row wefts $350 for package 2- i think this includes 4 back row wefts plus more on the side $450 for package 3- this one is for 6 back row wefts plus more on the sides they said all their prices include, maintenance, installation,cutting, styling, and cost of hair. |

I think those prices are pretty good. Doing those microring weaves are somewhat time consuming, although not as much as strands.

Basically the braided rope can substitute for the synthetic hair many people braid into weaves. It functions the same, acting as an anchor to make the hair less prone to slipping.
17th and Glamour's tension strap is nothing more than what they call the adding in of the synthetic hair (or rope) into the criss crossing of the rings.

Thanks for posting the government patent site!!!
It sounded to me (as explained in their patent) they pick up a few strands and criss cross them in with some type of synthetic for the start of the track. Then on subsequent criss cross pick ups they also add in some hair from the previous pick up link.
