Here's the thing though. I doubt this install will last long as, when I was finished, I saw that I didn't like the exact placement I had on my rows and, only hours later, jumped in the shower and covered my head in conditioner to try and remove the entire install so I could start over.

Well, that didn't work. My tapes didn't budge.

I used Supertape, as I had heard rave reviews about it, and, I put a little LG inside the tape for additional hold. Also, I added a thin line of LG to the tape part that was going on the hair.

It feels so light and comfortable compared to the clip ins I have been wearing! I can't even feel that I have it in.

SO... I will definitely be doing this method again, once these come out.

Here are a few pics. It's silky straight hair, but, I let it dry on its own and then took a large barrel curling iron to it. Also, my own hair is still jacked up through the crown, so, the blending isn't the best around. I did use a feather razor to cut into the Weft hair and into my own for a little better look.

 

 

 

I can't wear my wefts up any higher than my ears as my hair has a cowlick in back and it tends to part and show the weft. SO, all of that crown hair is where the majority of my real hair is and there is TON of it. I just keep using the feather razor and thinning it out as it grows.

I know I mention it a lot. But, be very careful with 40 volume peroxide ladies. My natural hair was this exact length throughout and pretty much everything within 2 inches of my crown broke down to 1/4 to 1/2 inch all around. That is why I have so much bulk growing out up there.

Fakeizme. OMG, my stomach turned when you mentioned split ends and a fuzzy appearance. That's the last thing my hair needs to go through again. My hair does have a tendency towards frizz in some spots anyway. So... thank you so much for giving me the heads up and I will heed it.

I found a pic of my hair before the 40 volume meltdown. It still ticks me off that I've had to go through all of this. The pic. is all my own hair and it was so easy to do. It took about 5 minutes each morning and that was it.

And now, I spend countless hours and dollars... Sigh... And I've been growing it back for a year now and still have at least another year and a half before I get back to what I want.

Well, life goes on and thank heavens for extensions and all of the helpful advice I've gotten along the way.

 

 

That is exactly what I say now! I tell people I am happy I went through what I went through. For one thing, I found a color that I love so much more than any I have had. My reds were always so brassy before but now, I know how to get a great red/brown that I love.

 

Well, I thought my curled pics didn't do this Bohyme hair justice and my own hair had a frizz to it since I didn't do anything to it , so , I washed my hair again, (still want this install to loosen fast so I can redo it) and this time, I used a blow dryer and my flat iron. Here are the same pics as yesterday but with the hair straightened. Oh, and I did cut another inch or so off as its impossible to wear it straight with all of my upper layers... And I cant wear my extensions any higher or I may as well wear a sign that says,  "This is what a weft looks like when it's glued into your hair"

And now, that jacked up side again. See how my own hair is just so dense through that area, making blending so hard. And, I have cut into my own hair and thinned it as much as I can. I am thinking i just have to deal and let it grow... unless, anyone has any other suggestions.

You are really good at razoring and blending; looks so natural. We are always our own worst critics.  And the colour is gorgeous --- thank gawd you went and damaged your natural hair so you could discover how to maintain this great colour!

 

Your upper layers really don't look bad to me at all. I kind of have this problem in some areas on my crown. What I do is wear skin wefts close to my part. This way, it hides the shorter pieces while I grow them out. What I love about wear them also, is that the weight of the hair presses down my own fuzzier hair and keeps it from poking out. I'll try to take a pic next week when I reinstall. I think i read on here that someone who had a cowlick, put the extensions/weft right above it and below it to cover it? You may want to do a search on that here.

 

OK, I'm sorry I'm writing too much. I have a cooler in my hand (Friday!) and I'm feeling WORDY!!

I would love to see pics when you reinstall. I'm going to play around with the placement a bit when I reinstall as well. Two of the ladies who had put hair in for me several months back had tried to place the hair higher and I ended up going back and having them remove it as it wouldn't stay hidden. But, maybe, my hair is a bit longer now and I can make it work.

I've worn Color 12, which is a Light Golden Brown in a different brand and it is exactly the same as the Bohyme 30.

I really love the color.

Well, I had to take it out and I am now back to wearing my old clip ins until I get the issue resolved with the seller and Bohyme.

I don't forsee a problem but will keep you posted.

Amd Fakeizme, it's only 4 more days til' Friday again. lol

I used the LG bond remover and squirted it directly on the tape to, let it sit for about 3 minutes and then massaged the tape very carefully. THe wefts loosened and slid out pretty easily.

I have heard some people say the LG remover  irritates their scalp though so ... it isn't the right thing for everyone.

After the wefts were out, I layed them in my bathtub and squirted at the tape with Acetone to try and remove the tape. I know many people have good results with Acetone and tape, but, I didn't. The wefts were very sticky and had bits of tape still on them even after I scrubbed with a toothbrush. I've heard people say they place the taped part in a bowl of acetone and let it soak for a bit, but, I was afraid to do that.

 

I like the tape method as it feels comfortable wearing it, but, I will want to find a better way to clean the weft.

How about you? Are you wearing the tape yet?

 

 

 

 

Really, the acetone wont hurt the wefts. And it REALLY works well if you pour some acetone in a small dish (old dish that you dont care about) and soak the track in the acetone for a few minutes. Use an old toothbrush and the tape will brush right off with very little effort, and nothing left behind. You need pure 100% professional acetone.

 

Oh Yeah!!! Now, it's only two more days!!! Get ready for verbal diarhea and pages of useless posts!!!

 

I will say, I agree with both you and Sherrie when it comes to using the acetone. I had the same experience as you: the tape got goober-ish and started going into the actual hair with acetone. What I did when I took them out last weekend --- used Goo Gone and 99% alcohol to remove. Then when all hair was out and most of the tapes were ripped off, I dipped each weft into a tin of acetone and left it to sit on the bathroom counter. When I got in the shower, I used Dawn dishwashing soap on all of the wefts and then LEFT the soap on the hair outside of the shower on a plastic bag. I left the soap to sit on the hair for about an hour! Well...when I went to rinse it out, the gooey-ness was gone! Yay! I wasn't expecting it to work, so I was very happy. Of course, I then slapped some good conditioner on the hair and microwaved it. I'm gonna try this whole thing again next removal and confirm that it wasn't a fluke!!!!

 

 

 

I use acetone and only acetone for removal. Its quick and easy for me and beats any other product hands down. BUT...I am very generous with the acetone. I work one row at a time and DOUSE the tape. As soon as the acetone soaks completely through the tape it releases from my hair without any effort at all, just get my fingers in there and start lifting the hair off the tape and they come out with ease. Too little acetone and they dont come out easy, leave them sit too long and you get the gooey boogers.

 

I also squeeze a little more acetone on the glue residue left in my hair and it combs right out with a fine tooth comb. I dont need any other product or have to do anything besides shampoo my hair to remove any thing that may be left.

 

If I work quickly enough I can pull the tape right off the weft, usually in one or 2 pieces. But the longer the acetone sits on the tape, the gooier(?) the tape gets. So I usually just wait and brush off the tapes in a bowl of acetone afterwards.

Fakeizme... I've seen you all over this place and it looks like you do your research girl. From conditioner to bleach...

Sherrie: what you say makes me think, maybe I shouldn't spray ALL of my wefts and leave stuff to sit on my head (of course I do this with Goo Gone). Perhaps the acetone would be more effective for me, if I tried to do as you do and spray a lot of it on ONE weft at a time. Then, quickly, strip the tape off the weft. hmmmmm....it's something to try next time!

 

Just a thought...Fusion removal is done with acetone or with acetone based remover products, yet you never hear questions/concerns about whats in the fusion remover.

 

I have genetically crappy hair and will never grow (nice) long hair on my own. Anything below shoulder length becomes thin, scraggly looking, frizzy and brittle. I will be wearing hair extensions until I decide I am ready to wear my hair shorter, so my natural hair isnt as much of a concern to me as those who are trying to grow out their own hair with extensions.

That wil be a while as I don't even have any hair glued in right now. But, i will post my experience when I do.

You know, lots of the ladies at Sherries place http://www.HairExtensions101.com - www.HairExtensions101.com use the tape and lg method and there are a lot of tips on installing and removing.

Hope I'm able to say that on this board. Not trying to promote , just a fact that I have learned a lot about tape and lg from being a lurker on that forum.

The takedown is super easy. I do have to say that I don't get quite the amout of wear from my installs that some of the others do... 3-4 weeks max... but I don't mind taking it down and reinstalling as the entire process takes only about 2 hours and I get perfect hair for 3-4 weeks afterwards.

As Sherrie mentioned, acetone works great! I put 100% acetone in a small spray bottle and work on one row at a time. WHen its all out, I pour a bit of acetone in a heavy ( I say heavy because I used a disposable plastic bowl and the acetone ate right through it) plastic tupperware type bowl and I soak the remaining bits of glue or tape off.

A double shampoo, some heavy conditioner, let it dry and its ready to install again.

Oh yes... I love the supertape/lg combo. And I might add, with my darker hair, I prefer the new lg. It doesn't turn white in my hair like the old lg does.
