Many thanks for the quick response you’re the first to reply to me (THANK YOU). Far from it, feeling insecure maybe I get just a little nervous at first but this soon passes, about being only male in the salon I enjoy it, from my last visit I dearly remember loving the atmosphere, the setting lotion smells and company for the hours they kept me there. So it is my wish this time to Wear Ladies Clothes and a touch of Makeup whilst having my hair set. Do you know whether this would be permissible with their consent, or is there a law against this; if not I will just go ahead and ask them if they would accept me wearing a Blouse & Dress, what do you think? I am open to any suggestions that would make me feel more feminine. Rachel I wish you were nearer so we could talk hair and fashion

Thanks for the reply 20/05 Susan W (Elite member I see) following your advise I made calls to a hand full of beauty salons and of which two seemed very willing to help set my hair whilst dressed as a lady I went and made appointment for the 23^rd for a wash and set on rollers (perm rods to be exact), I walked into salon and said I had for appointment for a wash and set giving my name and appt time. I did not feel a bit nervous much to my amazement, not even when a lady called over smiling, we won’t keep you long darling would you like to take a seat, I will set you in about 15 mins she was finishing a ladies hair. I was approached by another stylist who lead me down stairs to wash a condition my hair, before this I was shown to the staff room where I dressed into ladies clothes as previously requested, I then had my hair washed and conditioned, my hair was put in a turban and I was lead back up stairs to the main salon to have my set, by this time the lady who was to set my hair had a trolley containing all sorts of perms rods, spray bottles, several small files of liquid, towels and hair spray, we made general chit-chat as she applied liquid from one of the files apparently it was setting lotion each section of hair was rubbed with this lotion before wrapping with perm papers she explained the lotion would hold the curls in place, half way through her doing the set I was offered a cup of tea I felt I was really being pampered. Once she had finished the placement of all perm rods she placed a towel round my neck and fastened it tight against my neck line, as I looked in the mirror I could see her getting another new file of setting lotion out and felt her run it along each rod so that all hair had freshly applied lotion the smell was lovely. A pink hair net drawn from the trolley draw was secured in place this was a triangular shape with a knot a front and was tied at the back. I was asked if I wanted any thing to read whilst under the hood as I was told could be quite a while, I asked her to surprise me, finally the mags appeared they were basically what we had been talking about fashion & make up. I was brought another cup of tea; boy does sitting under the dryer make you thirsty.

When she was satisfied my hair was completely dry. She took the hair net off and asked for me to wait a while my hair cooled off.  About 15/20 minutes later she started taking the rods out and lovely curls were revelled once all were out I was delighted with my head of curls, she titivated this as much as possible without brushing out the nice tight curls and the sprayed lacquer in close to the roots then again over whole head with a perfumed lacquer. I was now done and pleased that the other cliental did not remark about my blouse, dress and floral tights. (They all matched I hasted to add)

Don’t know what I was so worried about it was no big deal and a fantastic experience.

Thanks Susan W without your correspondence I would not have plucked up courage so soon to wear ladies clothes whilst having my hair set, it’s just something I’ve dreamt about. GLAD YOU WERE THERE FOR ME.

Certainly a Day I shall never forget the Stylist was most obliging putting me totally at ease and saying all the right things I really appreciated every thing she did
