I just received my Indian virgin unit and and I want to get #30 highlights
throughout.  My question is when I have my stylist do this, is it better to have it done while applied to my head or have it done while on the mannequin. The only reason I'm asking because I thought I read where it wasnt a gd idea to  shampoo while still appiled. I have a shaven head so I not concerned about wet hair underneath but what about resealing the knots. I hope this wasnt too confusing. bash

i would let her do it on the wig head b/c i don't really see the need to be wearing it for something that's going to require washing out the chemicals and your hair being damp underneath..

are you afraid to color it yourself ?

its simple just use t pins to pin it to a styrofoam head section the hair in four use a permenant hair color of your choosing from the foodstore ... feria or garnier is good

you know they have those highliting kits with the cap with where you poke the holes in the cap and pull the hair thru and it keeps the other hair from getting colored.. i've used them b4 and it comes out great!

Lacygirl, there's a thread on the 3rd page titled browns and blondes that has pics of a member that used the African Pride highlighting kit.  Her pics look great.  I've tried the highlighting kit on my own natural hair and it turned out great also.  Would like to try highlighting on my wet and wavy unit for the summer.

I did my own highlighting for the first time the other day, and it was easier than doing it on your own hair - I thoughroughly recommend it to anyone!

Highlighting is really easy.  The time consuming part is pulling the strands of hair through the cap, but that part is easy as well.  You really can't go wrong using a kit.  I'm a huge fan of the African Pride highlighting kit.

Ladies you all have been great with all the advice you shared, now I'm excited to get to work and make it happen. I was thinking of using the foil method but the cap seems easier. I will defenitly post pic before and after
   THANK YOUgirlpower

I recently got a chinese virgin. I lightened the entire unit one day to about a 4 and then the next I used beyond the zone bleach kit to bleach the knots and add golden highlights. My stylist couldn't believe I did it myself (and saved $40). I did have her cut it for $15.
