I am new to this forum i had to join because you all give me hope to wear my lace wig. I've had two wigs for over a year now and i only tried wearing each of them once. One is toooo smallAngry and the other i don't like the color. The one that is too small i don't want but the other i would like the color to be changed from a #4 to a #2, plus i think the nape is too bulky, not sure, and i would want my knots sealed ( i learned about that from you guys)! PLEASE IF ANYONE CAN DO IT FOR ME PLEASE LET ME KNOW AND TELL ME HOW MUCH IT WOULD COST. Oh! i live in Massachusetts, they don't even know about lace wig where i live, i found a stylist in Boston that said she can apply it very well, so I'll try her because I'm so bad at doing it although eventually I'll have to learn. HELP ME PLEASEEEEE!please If you know of anyone i can go to please let me know, i'll even travel to NY to get it done if you know anyone there that can do it. I paid $400 for each of my units from "the hair network" I will be ordering from REX soon though. Here are some pics the first one is my hair but lost it all due to a bad perm and the other two are the wig i want to be repaired! That was the only time i wore it, i had to get my brother to help me apply it and the nape was not even done!Lace wig below, real hair above before i lost it!

Hehehe! All the things ya wanna do to your lf, you can do yourself very easily at that. To get it from a #4 to #2 just find a brown color hair dye you like (I would recomend a perminate one with out anomnia or a lightner). Rub a little little bit of vasaline through the lace to keep the lace from getting dyed and then dye the hair according to the directions on the box.

As for sealing the knots, just get some acrylic sealer from the internet or craft store and spray it on the knots (with the cap turned inside out)

But there's more indepth info in the newbie thread at the top of this forum!!!

Thanks for respondingSmile, can you suggest which brand dye that is, i know if i ask in the hair store here they will have no idea what i'm talking about. The reason i'm afraid to do it by myself is because i wonder if i'll mess up the bleached knotsErmm??????.

Yep! I've used Clariol Natural Instints, Garnier Nutrisse, and Bigen. Bigen is great, but if you're not careful, you can over dye (as in the color can come out darker than expected) So, make sure you check frequently when using. The Garnier Nutrisse is easier to use and has way more color options!!! All of them can be found at Walmart, CVS, Walgreens, and Rite Aid or any drug store!!!

Oh yea, I forgot to answer the second part- The vasline helps keep that from happening but if you wanna make super sure you don't dye the knots, use a mascara brush to apply to the roots of the hair. And when you go to wash the dye out. Turn the wig inside out and wash it out downwards. You can run cool/luke warm water through the cap so the dye will runaway from the knots.

to protect the knots take a about a quarter size of vaseline and rub in between your hands and rub it all over the inside of the cap, you will need to turn it inside out for this.. and then turn it back over and put it back on the wig head, i use loreal cream color b/c its a cream and it won't run onto the lace.. it also comes with a root applicator that you can put on the bottle to apply it, its like a comb and it allows you to get close to the base of the unit without getting too close to the lace.. you need to do a few small sections at a time to be careful as you apply the dye and go all the way around and its a done deal if you used too much vaseline on the cap you can spray a little goo gone in the cap and then wash the hair and the dye out and deep condition and you'll be fine..
