would it be wrong if i wanted my boyfriend to cut my hair?  i think that i get a sort of fetish type feeling.  I mean we are a committed couple. i don't even know how to approach him with the issue.  I hope he doesn't think that i'm weird.  anyways, i was wondering if i am the only one who feels this way. it doesn't help that i have long waist length hair.

Sorry for being a bit wierd, i just want to know how to approach this issue?

Be straight up; tell him you need a haircut and that you want him to do it.  If he protests, tell him it's okay and that if it doesn't turn out allright, you'll just go to the salon to get it fixed.

How short are you wanting to go?

Hi,

Start by asking him how he feels about you cutting your hair. Then say to him, that you would like for him to cut your hair for you. Also go to this web site   http://www.hairfinder.com/index.htm - http://www.hairfinder.com/index.htm and  look for videos on "How to Cut Hair". Also go to Sally's Beauty Supply and buy yourself a good pair of "Haircutting Scissors". Well worth the money you spend on them, DON'T use normal run of the mill household scissors.

Once you have done that, you can have him cut your hair for you. Start by having him cut just a couple of inches off the length and see how he does. If it comes out good, then have him cut it to the length that you want your hair to be.

P.S. Please post some before pictures of your hair and the afters.

"Good Luck"

I have pretty long hair, right below my bra line.  I wanted to try something really fresh like a bob or a-line bob.  it pretty drastic, but i was definitely in stages.

Thanks for the advice.

Hi there

I think it's great that you want to embrase your "fetish" lol. Lots of people here hope their partner would be more like you and include them with styling or cutting their hair.

Here a a couple of links to thread under the hair politics sections where similar questions have been asked and some of the suggestions to approach your partner in how to involve them.  I hope they help and give you a few ideas.

Let us know how you get on, and if he does do it can you post some before and after pics. You can always blur your face if you want to keep your identity a secret.

All the best

well from what i see   you want it cut, you have even thought about a cut you want. i think if you have the feeling and you want it like you do it is only a matter of time. why not tell him how it is?
tell him you want short hair and you think it would be alot of fun if he cut it.
you have to assure him it is ok to mess up (a lillte lol)
why not have him cut off yor ponytail to your shoulders to start and donate it?
if you put a picture in your post we can make a mock up of how the a-line cut will look on you.
do you have straight hair?
here are very GOOD instructions on how to cut it (i used them on my wife once)
  http://www.hairfinder.com/techniques/alinehaircut.htm - http://www.hairfinder.com/techniques/alinehaircut.htm
http://www.hairfinder.com/techniques/a-line2.gif - http://www.hairfinder.com/techniques/a-line2.gif
you will need a good pair of scissors ($8 @walmart) and your boyfriends buzzer (hair clipper set) if he does not have one you can get a decent set (wahl) @ walmart for $20
here are a few pics of bob-cuts i have given my wife (she usually goes to a salon but once in a while i am lucky enough to get to do it)
she was a long hair girl like you for a long time and then finally one day she got a bob for me and for 4 years now she has been getting it bobbed about every 4-8 weeks and loves it!

I see that you are in SF.  I am so glad I got the chance to see that site before the scaffolding went up!  My signature photo was taken in the GG park.

Um, no specific hair advice, just wishing you good luck!

You caught me telling a lie, Hal!

In reality, I was away in rehab for my drug problem.  Or maybe I didn't get there because I was strung out.  Or maybe I was out hell raising with the local motorcycle club.  Or maybe I was on a rock and roll tour.  Have I omitted any other relevant stereotypes? Tongue

Hal, don't let thoughts of enlightenment enter your mind -- it's dangerous stuff!  Best to stick with keeping people in boxes -- it's easier that way. Tongue

Just back after another long week at wor... er, rehab. Wink

Pretty funny Dave....maybe if you could tuck all that hair into a hat we could hang out, have a few beers, shoot something...

Hal, your "hat" remark brings to mind an old song -- Signs, from the Five Man Electrical Band

"And the sign said long haired freaky people need not apply
So I tucked my hair up under my hat and I went in to ask him why
He said you look like a fine upstanding young man, I think you'll do
So I took off my hat I said imagine that, huh, me working for you"

Well, I didn't have to tuck my hair under a hat to get a jo... er, place in rehab.
