Ladies,

It has come to my attention that Aphogee has changed thier product - particularly the protien content.

Has anyone else used Dudley's DRC 28 or Affirm's 5 in 1 Reconstructor?

Are there any other products out there that are just as good?

I am in the same boat and I am almost done with my Aphogee for damaged hair and I did some research and found threads about Jherri Redding 100% protein and Lamur Bone marrow....Jherri Redding got alot of praise so I am going to Sally's to pick some up, I will give a review after I use it this weekend. I have not used any of the products you mentioned but I think that the Affirm is more of a light/medium protein conditioner but I may be mistaken so you'll want to check the ingredients before buying...let us know how you like them!

I'm having a hard time finding Aphogee reconstructor. I see their conditioners and leave-in spray treatments but never that product. Do I have to order it online? And I hope motions is not bad...because I just bought their Motions CPR for like 6 dollars. Hope it's worth itConfused

Update: I tried the Jherri Redding 100% Protein conditioner (about $7 at Sally's) and it gave me results similar to Aphogee so it is a winner! It does smell like soy sauce and its very liquidy so get a spray bottle to make applying it easier. I put the conditioner on and sat under the dryer for about 15-20 min and my hair stiffened up (not as hard as it did w/Aphogee) and when I rinsed it out my hair felt smooth and strong. So my search is over [IMG]smileys/smiley1.gif" align="middle" />

ETA: The price of Jherri Redding is actually $7 w/Sally card.

They should have the full line at Sally Beauty supply but it is the reformulated Aphogee. I read good things about Motions on longhaircareforum.com but I am not sure this is a heavy protein conditioner...unfortunately most Motion conditioner did not agree with my hair

these are good too: Jherri Redding 100% protein; and ORS Mayo (moderate).
You can also do a molasses treatment which does wonders for strengthening and volumizing the hair: 2 parts molasses to 3 parts of any good thick moisturizing conditioner.

directions: warm molasses for 20-30 seconds (make sure its just warm enough to mix in properly with the conditioner ---but not HOT); combine with moisturizing conditioner and apply to towel-dried hair. cover with plastci cap for 30 minutes. Rinse with warm water.

*you can follow up with another light moisturizing conditioner to ensure that moistuure balance in the hair is restored. Make sure the molasses is mixed with a moisturizing conditioner, not a protein conditioner, as this will be too much protein.

I'm so excited to hear about this product.  I was upset about aphogee changing their forumla.  I just bought my last bottle of aphogee for $20.  the beauty supply I usually buy it from won't carry it any longer.  I have a sally's card, so I'll get Jheri's when my aphogee runs out.

BTW, aphogee had a special "softening" conditioner that you had to use after the protein treatment. It helped to return your hair to its natural softness.  Does Jheri's have a similar follow up conditioner you are suppose to use after the protein treatment?

Hey Vanity, I replied to your pm but saw this and wanted to let you know that there is no special follow up conditioner like the one aphogee has. However Jherri's is different because although the hair will feel stronger is does not feel hard like with aphogee; i just follow up with my deep conditioner after using Jherri and my hair feels silky and soft HTH
