There is a lot of talk here about avoiding or reducing ammonia, but hardly a mention of PPD. PPD is a toxic/allergenic chemical found in most permanent hair color.

The only exceptions I can find have something else that is toxic such as lead, or they are not good, or they are not permanent. Any suggestions?

p-Phenylenediamine (PPD) is also known as:
  • para-Phenylenediamine
  • para-Diaminobenzene
  • para-Benzenediamine
  • para-Aminoaniline
  • 1,4-Phenylenediamine
  • 1,4-Diaminobenzene
  • 1,4-Benzenediamine
  • 1,4-Aminoaniline

Are natural alternitive hair dyes free of this? At Nutters here in Canada, they sell supposedly NATURAL hair dyes... I don't know anything about these chemicals, so I won't be of any help to you... I have yet to try the hair dyes personally but I might try since I'm pregnant.... I'd look up some of this online. GOOD LUCK.
