I've been dying my hair odd colors for a while, and last night, thinking about it. When my next school year starts back up, I was thinking of doing a natural color combonation. Does this sound like a good idea? Main question, what are some good non-permanent dyes? I want like, brown, red, and blonde. but if I hate it I want to be able to strip it out and dye it pink or whatever, quickly.  So I want semi permanent, but one that lasts, but can..not. I'm not all too informed with natural color dyes, so I don't know if that's too much to ask; which is why I'm trying to figure this all out in advance.and for those who used to look at my old thread, following the changes in my hair. this is what i'm at this very moment  ------------- doubt truth to be a liar. |

I love your colors! You did an excellent job of blending and color choice, really a work of art! If you really like to change a lot, and your hair is bleached under the colors, you could do opaque shampoo, you can get it at a beauty supply shop, and wash it out when you want a change. Porous bleached hair will absorb it really well, so you'll get a drastic color change with just a couple of applications. | You could use something to remove the unnatural colors (Metalex?) and then try a semi-permanent hair dye. If you want something a little more permanent you could try a demi-permanent. |

| No, color depositing shampoos don't really work. They are mainly for toning, not adding pigment to hair. You could try L'oreal Casting Colorspa or Natural Instincts by Clairol. Alternatively, you could go to Sally's beauty supply to find a semi-permanent line like beautiful browns. Don't forget to remove the color you have in there now first with a dye solvent color remover like Color Oops or Color Fix. Then use one to two shades lighter hair color than you think you want. Demi's and semi's tend to come out darker, especially on prelightened hair like yours |

They work if you use them over heavily lightened light hair, and use them every use, not every other use like it says on the bottle, and especially if you don't condition your hair afterwards. Your porous hair will absorb it and it will add up and show up over lighter hair shades. It'll take a couple washes to show up, but after a week, you'll surely see it. I never tried shimmerlights, I was using the one you can get at Sally that looks like thick paint in the bottle. Comes in 2 shades of red, and one ash brown. (I used to mix the warm red and brown, using one then the other next time too). Its been awhile since I bought it, I hope they still sell it. Oh thanks, I'll def try that out. I have a feeling I'm going to hate the natural colors, so I don't want to commit to permanent dye, but I won't know till I try it.

I just LOVE your hair the way it is, you could try natural combitantions they won't be as cool as your hair now but it would be a more natural looking apporach to what you want, I don't know much about semis and demis but I know they can fade and wash out in a certian amount of washes, good luck, I can't wait to see what it looks like. ------------- ~* Bambi Lee *~ |
