This is my first post here...I need some advice, see my hair is right now shoulder length blackest brown, the ends are blacker, my roots are a shade lighter.  It's been dyed permanently, and last time it was semi-perm dye that was used.  I want to get the darkness out so I'm going to use color oops because I'm a poor college student with no funds to see a pro...!!

Anyway, I've used colorzap before so I know it turns hair orange, but I'm wondering if I should use a semi-perm dye or perm dye on it after using color oops??  I want it closer to my natural color which is a light/med ash brown if that makes sense.  I know it may have some warmth to it even after recoloring but should I go for a light ash brown since some people have said to choose a shade lighter than what you want.  Basically I'm wondering if I should use a semi-perm dye or permanent or doesn't it matter??  Thanks in advance!!! Smile

Since you are going for the brown range, even though you want light, you should go for a lighter shade of brown than you want.  From what I can see, there's no reason not to use semi-perm in this case.  As for ash, you may only want to use ash if your hair comes out orange after the color oops (it probably will, but you'll have to see).  An ash brown is likely going to have a green base, and this is good to counter orange hair, but if your hair comes out yellow, ash will turn those parts green if it has a green base.  You can always test strand the dye you choose to make sure, and if you're using boxed colors from the drugstore, this is especially a good idea.
